New music by Remy Shand: WhereAreWeGoing?

I came across this on Twitter and this is all the info there seems to be:

Published on May 17, 2013

All instruments and vocals performed by Remy Shand.
Recorded and mixed by Remy at Hollywood Dan's Sound Lair
Songwriters: Mizell, Larry / Gordon, Edward Larry
Film footage from Stuart Wilensky's "Greenwich Village Sunday

Sounds wonderful. Hopefully there's a new album on the way.

He's debut was one the best albums of last decade and one of my all time

favourites.

I'll try! smile There's another video on his Youtube account, uploaded even more recently:

CANARY is the 4 track cassette project of musician Remy Shand.
This song is a tribute to the genius of artist/skateboarder Mark Gonzales. It was recorded back in 1996 on a Tascam 244. They sure don't make them like they used to.

Pretty impressive since he was only 18 in 1996.

Damn him and Glenn Lewis must have had a phone conversation because

both came around 2002 and disappeared for a whole decade now they

both coincidentally have new singles and forthcoming albums. I'm not

digging this new single so far by Remy.

Be honest.

You don't like him simply because he is a soulful white-guy and that rubs you the wrong way. I'll bet a dollar to a donut that you didn't even listen to the track.

You'd lose that bet.

He's loking like a one-trick pony. That 70s reissue sound is done. Its 2013 and he's doing the same thing he was doing in 2002. I respect his talent but I thought he was way overrated from the beginning. There was way too much hype around what was a mediccre album with one memorable cut on it.

You sound mad because I didn't declare him God's gift to soul for coming along and doing what was done better 40 years ago.

For what its worth, its the same reason i stopped checking for Raphael Saddiq. Cee-Lo buried his ass with "Fuck You" and I hope he has learned and moves on with his next record.

Oh, and since YOU brought up race, maybe you are the one who was rubbed the wrong way?

hmmm I always wondered where he went, because it is very weird for an artist to go silent, unless they go get a 9 to 5 and raise a family like everyone else.

I wasn't exactly anticipating Remy the same way I was D'Angelo after a decade of silence. hmm

I am happy for SoulAlive though! smile

Don't we need more balance in the Matrix? Or would you prefer another single from Trinidad James?

Trinidad James is a rapper.

How about a new single from Van Hunt that doesn't sound Punk rock or a new one from Musiq? Can Glen Lewis come back? Can I get something from Silk, Tony Rich, or Bilal? D'Angelo is supposed to drop a new one but who's holding their breath for that?

I can get a "balance in the Matrix" just fine without Trinidad James, thank you.

It doesn't really matter who, it's what they are singing about that is more important. Be it Remy Shand or Silk..we need a better message, regardless of the messenger.

Are you seriously suggesting that Remy Shand is the only artist putting out a good message right now?

You really don't want to go down this road with me.

I posted Glenn Lewis new single here a couple weeks ago. It sounds okay. Not great. Sounds a little reggae influenced.

A Day in the Shade. The leaked title track from Remy's unreleased sophomore album. He was clearly going for a different sound.

Regardless of what people think of this song, I'd take it over 99% of R&B (charts) right now. The intro sounds like the Eagles' I Can't Tell You Why and he's doing his best Michael Franks impression but I don't care. I'd buy it.
