Gaga performing on Howard Stern.

This was posted in January but it is nice to watch. I'm sorry but Gaga is super talented and the girl can sing her ass off. Beyonce screeches, this gal sangs.

She is so sweet too. No rock star ego like our P. Wish some would rub off:

Gaga is a has-been hack who had to cancel her recent tour due to poor ticket sales. In Los Angeles they were giving away THOUSANDS of tickets and she still couldn't fill the Staples Center. She is lying when she claims she had a hip injury.

Besides whether you're interested in her music or not, Gaga is a fuckin cool chick. This video proves it again.

.

.

Musically, I think she needs to write a couple of real timeless classic songs over her next two albums, if she's to become an icon. IMO she hasn't had a really memorable, goosebump tune yet.

I'm talking about the kind of classic tunes that defy genres and boundaries which appeal to a wide range of people.

Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I hate the bias on this site. Gaga's more talented than several artists people worship on this site. Top 40 radio finally gets a talented a person but she's too popular to be seen as talented by some people.

I think the production distracts from her instrumental (piano/voice) talent.

In that Howard Stern interview they talk about her doing a covers album sometime, but in my opinion, there has yet to be the album that shows her bare talent.

She is one hell of a songwriter, but the songs do get lost in the production. nod

I'm still dying to hear Fashion of His Love without all the distracting stuff going on. pray

I would love for her to re-record her songs stripped down a la Kylie Minogue.

I used to kind of be one of those people mainly cause there was a time when she was so overexposed it was insane lol

Buti have come to realize she is talented and the fact she has worked with a lot of rock stars shows her rock roots as well.

Her new album has Doug Aldrich the guitarist for Whitesnake playing on the album so i hope we get some rock tracks smile

Didn't know that. And let's not forget she had Brian May and Clarence Clemmons on her last album.

Damn, her lyrics are almost as poor as Alicia Keys'.

This generation is a write-off. Pop is eating itself. I don't know what's happened or why, but for some reason music got stuck about 20 years ago. There's been no forward progression and no-one is really doing anything authentic. It's all canned, processed and contrived. Anyone who thinks Gaga is an exception is tripping. She's actually extremely corny.

Best act of the last 10 years was Kings of Leon, but they're white guys playing guitars so they won't get much love around here.

Kings of Leon?

Better than Kanye, the white stripes, Queens of the stone age, death grips, Janelle Monae, Arcade Fire, Amy Winehouse, Kendrick Lamar, Brother Ali, Childish Gambino, Franz Ferdinand, Gnarles Barkley, Lupe Fiasco, Godspeed You! Black Emperor!

LMFAO.

Beyoncé sings, Gaga screams and strains - hence her vocals declining in as little as a year.

Absolutely. Some of those acts you mentioned are full-blown shit. Franz Ferdinand chose a few nice grooves to recycle and stylized their product well enough to con some of the more gullible critics, but they were poor songwriters and they carried themselves with the same shamelessness as other fraudsters like Damien Hirst in the art world. They were the epitome of the saying "fake it 'till you make it". And Kanye West was simply a deluded mash-up artist who got lucky.

Gnarles Barkley did two great songs in the whole decade and not much else. Amy Winehouse was obviously a retro rehash whose best songs were cover versions (Valerie, WYSLMT). I like her, but the hype was overblown (as it always is nowadays). White Stripes were cool, but don't have enough melody for my tastes. A lot of these acts may have a good sound, but so few have mastered the art of writing a truly killer song. KOL had the sound and the songs. The lead singer (Caleb) also had a better voice than any of the people mentioned (maybe Cee-Lo could challenge him, but that's about it)

I haven't heard of all the acts you named there, so maybe they're hidden giants, but nestled as they are between clowns like Kanye and Ferdinand I don't feel particularly motivated to check them out.

I don't watch/listen to him very often, but he gave a good interview. Asks good quetions about the music, the artists history and gets insights that other media doesn't.

Even Gaga afterward acknowledged that it was great to talk about music stuff and not bullshit that other interviewers often ask.

He cool in my book! Comes across as just a regular, open minded guy.

I would recommend that you give the show as it is now a fair shake. I think you'll be surprised.

I'd highly recommend this piece on Howard, by Bob Lefsetz. An excerpt (the bolding's mine):

Don’t compare him with the Howard of yore. They play reruns on Howard 101 and they make me wince. There was an air of desperation back then, Howard hadn’t yet found his voice, he wasn’t comfortable in his skin.

I agree. He is established and legit, and talks to some of the biggest names. I don't even get offended by him anymore, actually.
