Candice Glover-the newest American Idol winner

This girl from South Carolina can SANG. I hope her career takes off. She had some incredible performances during this past season of AI and I'm glad the viewers finally voted in the right winner for a change. Her debut single is just the standard AI winner's song but her voice is lovely.

"I Am Beautiful"

some of her performances that I loved:

"I Who Have Nothing"

"Lovesong"

"Don't Make Me Over"

Well deserved. What an incredible singer. Unfortunately, because she doesn't look like Beyonce or Rhianna, her music will probably only be relegated to R&B radio.

lol in season 9, Satan Cowell said he thought Candice could only be a lounge singer disbelief She made the top 70 before being cut by the producers after forgetting some of the lyrics to whatever song she performed. Cowell once again was wrong, as he didn't think Jennifer Hudson would ever be a big star either.

In season 11 (last year), Candice made the top 40 and got a standing ovation during the second round of groups, but still got cut. I think the judges (Randy, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler) didn't think she had star power lol

People can say what they want about Mariah Carey but she is the only real singer the show has had as a judge and she was pulling for Candice from day 1 this season. Clearly she knows a fellow amazing singer when she hear one. I don't know why the ratings this year were lower than ever, but the top 10 the judges assembled was 1 of the best ever.

The the song that she forgot the words to was Adele's, "Chasing Pavements". Ironically, this was one of the she sang flawlessly, on part one of this year's finale....

But as always AI and if u are in that Top 4-8 pretty much have you secured for an album, which in todays market, its pretty much one and you are gone. Since everyone all of a sudden is jumping on the "im not doing an album" bandwagon and releasing EP's not sure why IDOL doesnt do that with her and whomever else they put out. And again singing songs already done and made famous etc...is nothing more than Karoake, I dont care what any of them do with the song presented to them, its covers plain and simple. Do you know how many good cover artists there are? Come to NYC and hit up the clubs and see these tribute bands, the Prince tribute band is better than him at his own songs, but im sure if they cut an album NO IDENTITY. And thats the problem with AI they got you for that make or break record right off the bat, and despite big selllers like Clarkson and Underwood, i barely find either of them interesting artists, though clarkson has shades of it at times, Carrie is nothing more than Faith Hill this decade. So you almost are better off losing, alot of the losers have actually done much better and been able to shape themselves regardless of selling or not. Katharine Mcphee is a good example, she lost to the Jay Leno look a like because people thought she had an attitude, and America is more about voting on "liking" than overall talent alot the times. She lost, but AI still had her first album which though it was almost a gold record, they paired a great vocalist with DANJA??? trying to make her a sex kitten that had a good voice a la Mariah. That failed she got dropped and fared much better getting respect from many industry people doing her next record on Verve, though sales were around 200,000 for that time it worked, and the album wasnt a contrived image, it was her using her voice in the songs. Now she is the star of NBC's smash and one of the networks biggest shows, so her work out of IDOL was light years better, i think the same thing will happen here, AI is gonna pair her with current writers producers etc...shitty PopRB that anyone can do.

What does Simon know about singing talent? Wasn't he behind the Spice Girls??? falloff

Simon, like most music execs, could care less about singing talent. They are looking for the "whole package". You don't have to be a great singer. Hell, you don't even have to be a good singer. But the "package" has to be presentable for them to be able to mass market you. They give the person garbage songs to "sing", process their voices thru a computer and con the public into buying the records. That's why Candace is not going to be a big crossover artist because it's going to be difficult to do that with her. Just like they weren't able to do it with Jennifer Hudson. Too much vocal talent there to be watering it down to computerized dance/pop fluff.

THIS is what they look like:

Yes, Simon Cowell actually think these kids are "talented", but not Candice Glover. Now how f*** up is that?

Well, I couldn't get past the first minute of this video lol , but I would imagine they are a marketing dream. I mean, if your target audience is teenage girls, the marketing strategy will be a piece of cake. Teenage girls will buy (fall for) anything as long as it involves young boys prancing around and saying the word "girl" in every other line of the song. lol So, I can see why Simon dismissed Candance because she can actually sing and has range. That alone is very difficult to market these days.

All these singing shows remind of that Brady Bunch episode where Greg Brady becomes "Johnny Bravo," not because of any talent on his part, but because he "fits the suit." Once Greg realizes he's been used he quits but not before the 'music people,' ask for the suit back. Hilarious. It's been a downward slope in pop music music ever since... lol

Natalie Cole lashes out at Candice-JHud song choice: ‘American Idol ought to be ashamed!’

After stellar performances all season, Candice Glover took home the title of American Idol during Thursday night’s live taping.

---

But before she was crowned with the honor, the 23-year-old singer took to the stage and sang the 1975 hit “Inseparable” — and she didn’t sing it alone.

Former Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson joined Glover in rounding out the two-hour finale and they rocked the stage while performing an unforgettable duet.

---

The Idol stars were greeted with a roaring applause and a standing ovation from audience members and judges, and their song soon rocketed across social media and the Internet.

---

However, singer and performer Natalie Cole wasn’t too pleased with their song choice.

---

Cole sang the original version on her hit debut album, also titled Inseparable; a fact she made sure to publicly clarify via Twitter.

Make no mistake..."Inseparable" was NOT originally recorded by Jennifer Hudson, but by ME.... American Idol... http://fb.me/243VjYiIU

Cole also addressed a tweet to Idol’s account saying: “@AmericanIdol ought to be ashamed of themselves! I’m seriously offended! #Idol #Idolfinale.” She later deleted the tweet.

---

Despite Cole’s disdain, some of her followers disagreed.

---

“Get real, and let someone else have their moment. If u recorded it first so be it – but u don’t need to rain on a parade,” one follower said in response.

Through it all, Glover was more than ecstatic from the results and was brought to tears after her win was announced.

---

“I’m still trying to process the whole thing,” Glover told reporters after the show.

---

“Like, I don’t even know my name. I don’t know what’s happening,” she adds. “It feels amazing, though. I finally got to this point. I’ve been working for so long.”

She is truly amazing. That love song cover she did is amazing most singers in the game right now can not do that. I hope she goes far.
