Brown Sugar Vs. Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite Vs. Baduizm Yeah, I know...... . All 3 of these albums are considered classics by many [including myself], & are definitely the starters of the "Neo-Soul" era. IF you had to go with just ONE of these, which would you choose (Or if you just have a flat-out favorite of the 3)??

I have all 3 of these, but if I had to choose, it would be:
D'Angelo with Maxwell as a very close second.
Eryka - | |

It was a decent cd, but IMO it doesn't rank up there with D and Maxwell.

Brown Sugar and UHS are their respective parent Artists' DEBUTS and PEAKS."Baduizm" is Erykah's weakest effort. She only got better and more varied, interesting, risky and more brilliant from there."Brown Sugar" for me...if we're only comparing these 3 albums. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Damn, all three are good albums but I have to say that D's "Brown Sugar" beats the other two even though Maxwell's "Urban Hang Suite" is definitely a strong #2. Both of those albums I can listen to straight with no skipping whatsoever.
Erykah's "Baduizm" is a strong album but I do remember skipping around the songs here and there. Not that she has a couple of bad songs on there, it's just that I have to be in a certain "baduizm" mood to listen to them. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Hard choice, but I have to go with Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, with Baduizm coming in at a close second. Now, if this was a battle between their sophomore studio albums, we all knew who would've won hands down. Check me out and add me on:

I'm going with Urban Hang Suite. Maxwell's voice is heavenly. Track 6, and let it play out........yeah. Next up is D, he's very close. I'm picking by voice quality.

Urban Hang Suite, Baduizm, and Brown Sugar in that order. As artists it's Badu by a mile.

Brown Sugar is far and away the best of the bunch. It's not even close. I prefer Baduizm to Urban Hang Suite, but I don't spin either of those on even a semi-regular basis. OTOH, Brown Sugar is a staple and has been since its release. It's the best R&B album of the '90s for me. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
