Maybe it's time for Questlove & D'angelo to get off Prince's dick.

I guess someone has to carry on the legacy seeing as Prince doesn't seem to have any serious investment in doing so.

Just in general Prince has NEVER seemed interested in his legacy.

I'm gonna go way back to the botched 1999 promo.

I suppose it's pure folly to think Prince would cooperate with Warner Brothers after the contentious split, but that was a perfect opportunity to put that project back in the limelight. As a fan I was psyched to see the 1999 album be all over the place that year, but it was all for nothing.

I love "Around The World In A Day" but who in their right mind would release such a project on the heels of "Purple Rain"?

And this is in the heydey of his important period.

To me he's done many things over his career that made us say "really?"

I personally think that Prince realises all the dogma is irrelevant...as long as people hear his music 300 years in the future or a 1000 is all that matters

why are you and others so obsessed by PR etc ultimately its irrelevant

look at vin gough for example

believe me musically...prince's legacy is way intact.

Prince perfected his legacy the moment he pressed "record"

Whenever D'Angelo elects to release a new recording, I will be right there to get it the same day.

WTF are you talking about? He just finished doing a tour that was well received. You guys complain when he does new or rarely heard stuff and you complain when he does the hits which I guess some of you think keeps his legacy going but really puts him in danger of becoming a oldies act something I think he working to get away from.

I like Questlove and D'angelo but they are jock riders.

Because thats the generation of artists they are use too. They think marketing and having a million dollar promotion is influence. lol

Having a million dollar PR squad doesnt necessarily make you more or less influential. Some of the most influential acts in the industry did not have that because thats not what influence/legacy is.

I LOVEEE D Angelo but I wouldnt dare compare him to Prince. I am always shocked by these comparisions on this board. Prince IS an oldies act (which isnt a bad thing because so are acts like Madonna and Rolling Stones) but what makes Prince relevant is through artists he has influenced such as Bruno Mars, Prince, D Angelo etc He has inspired a new generation of artists so all this "his legacy is not intact" talk is bullshit and quite laughable

To insist that Prince legacy is not intact and that D angelo is carrying it is disrespectful to all that Prince has accomplished and contributed.

Nice, you think they feel like coming to Amsterdam?

I'd be there cheering front row.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
