Embattled R&B star Lauryn Hill is making the most of her freedom before she has to report to jail by making last-minute plans to perform in New York this week.

The former Fugees frontwoman was handed a three-month sentence for tax evasion last Monday and has been ordered to turn herself in to authorities by July 8.

Hill, who recently unveiled her first new song in three years, ''Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix''), online, has since decided to use her remaining days to showcase her new material and announced on Friday night that she would be hitting the stage in Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 14.

In a post on her Facebook page, she wrote, “Hi! Decided to do a last minute show next week in Brooklyn at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Wanted to play NS Live!” Last month, Hill revealed that she had signed a new record deal to release the follow-up to her classic 1998 release, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

What I wish she'd do is turn herself in NOW that way she'll likely get "time served" and get out early. She shouldn't wait till Damn July to start doing that time. I'm not a Parent though and I'm sure she's making long-term plans for her children. Doing a Gig(s) is quick money and she gotta make sure her kids are taken care of. If Lauryn EVER needed a wake-up-call this is it. No Mother wants to be away from her children...

Not trying to be mean, but I have a funny feeling that she won't show up to turn herself in. But that aside, does she for real have a mental disorder or is she just contrary in a way that would put Nina Simone to shame?

Some of the Comments y'all are Throwing out about Lauryn are all over the place. Scriptgirl think about it..If Lauryn showed up @ each and every Trial Date because the Federal Court told her Paid Lawyer that she had to then why would she refuse to serve her time and Lose her kids for years? Some of the things y'all are coming up with make it seem as if Lauryn is this terrible person.

*****************************************************************

Some of you might not agree with her Personal Life, the way she handles her finaces and her Career choices but at the end of the day she's still Human & the Mother of 6 children. Her Ex hasnt said she's been bad at that.

I doubt she really wants this last minute gig - its just part of the system being forced upon her. But I would LOVE to hear her between song comments. lol

Nothing is being forced on her, thats why she continues on the road that everyone is against her, we allow her to hide behind 20 year old excuses. If she wants to go to jail the door is open, no one is forcing her to play shows and release music, but she owes ALOT of money, and this is her only way to make it. You see all these years where she was telling the people how they were victims too she was living tax free collecting money from "the system" sorry will never feel bad for this woman.

http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.23944/title.pras-says-lauryn-hill-shouldn-t-do-time-if-lindsay-lohan-doesn-t/

Pras feels that Ms. Hill will not serve her entire three-month, tax-related sentence.

Pras hasn't spoken to Lauryn Hill since she was... last week (May 6), but he said he reached out to his fellow Fugee member. "Nah, I haven't spoken to her," Pras said during an interview with TMZ. "But I did leave a call for her. So, you know, if she gets back to me, then you know. I wanted to just reach out to her and be like, 'Yo, whatever you need, I got your back.'"

Pras also said that he doubts Hill will serve her entire sentence. "I doubt if she's gonna do three months, though," he said. "Nah. Listen, if Lindsay Lohan doesn't do any time, why would she do time? You feel me?"

As for other matters, Pras said he is doing well. "Everything's great," he said. "Great. Yeah, you know, I'm good. You know what? I ain't got no tax problems, that's what it's all about. You gotta stay away from that."

Pras didn't seem too confident about a Fugees reunion, though. "I don't know about that," he said.

falloff that shade pras threw with the ''i ain't got no tax problems''

Why are fools still asking about a Fugees reunion! it's been 17 years since they made an album and they all pretty much dislike each other.
