How come,when we do these type of threads,"Papa Don't Preach" doesn't get more love? It's an excellent video!! I would say that it's her first really outstanding music video.

It's a good video but it's nothing compared to what she did in the 90's

The only two mentioned Im not very found of are American Life (I suppose you are referring to that runway first version of it, I found its social protest unexpressive) and Jump (never worked for me).

Others mentioned after that I like too are Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, Oh Father, Bedtime Stories, Bad Girl and Nothing Really Matters. Borderline and Like a Virgin are not exactly well-crafted videos, these ones probably only start from the True Blue album on. But they are both very fun and very iconic. But, if you stop to think, neither were Beat It, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough or Billie Jean so well-crafted videos, and they are still very iconic. The art of music videos was in the making in the early 80s. About the True Blue video, I found it kitsch, as one has already said, and that it plays with the 50s iconography very well.



I'm surprised Justify My Love and Erotica are not among the top voted. These videos are master works!! And Deeper and Deeper is a great video, with that 70s flair to it, full of cultural references, notably the Andy Warhol films.

Bad Girl is like a movie. I don't know why it was left off the Celebration music video compilation.

Otherwise, my faves are all the Mary Lambert clips.

Bad Girl I've always found her best because it's also her best moment as an actress (rare) captured on film. It is stylish, eloquent and just perfect, IMO.
