The second single from Madonna's album is likely to be "Hollywood".Here are the lyrics...

"HOLLYWOOD"

Everybody comes to Hollywood
They wanna make it in the neighborhood
They like the smell of it in Hollywood
How could it hurt you when it looks so good?

Shine your light now--this time it's gotta be good
You get it right now--cause you're in Hollywood

There's something in the air in Hollywood
The sun is shining like you knew it would
You're riding in your car in Hollywood
You got the top down and it feels so good

I lost my memory in Hollywood
I've had a million visons,bad and good
There's something in the air in Hollywood
I tried to leave it but I never could

Shine your light now--this time it's got to be good
You get it right now--cause you're in Hollywood

There's something in the air in Hollywood
I've lost my reputation, bad and good
You're riding in your car in Hollywood
You got the top down and it feels so good

Music stations always play the same songs
I'm bored with the concept of right and wrong

Everybody comes to Hollywood
They wanna make it in the neighborhood
They like the smell of it in Hollywood
How could it hurt you when it looks so good?

Shine your light now--this time it's got to be good
You get it right now yeah--cause you're in Hollywood
Cause you're in Hollywood,cause you're in Hollywood,cause you're in Hollywood (X3)

Check it out, this bird has flown

Shine your light now---this time it's got to be good
You get it right now yeah---cause you're in Hollywood
Cause you're in Hollywood,cause you're in Hollywood,cause you're in Hollywood (X3)

Push the button, don't push the button
Trip the station,change the channel
Push the button, don't push the button
Trip the station,change the channel
Push the button, don't push the button
Trip the station,change the channel

smart move to sell the single in advance online. i think that will help to cut down on free downloading. $1.49 in nothing.
the lyrics to that song, though...ugh. I'm sorry but this helps to prove what i was talking about in previous posts. the woman has no artistic talent, just business talent. Could she have rhymed hollywood with anything other than good (oh, i'm sorry, she did use neighborhood and could). There was far too much repetition goin' on there also. And, baby, there ain't Joy In that Repetition! lol

From reading the lyrics to "Hollywood" and the title track,I predict that this new album will be a personal,introspective,soul-baring album that will probably have more in common with 'Ray Of Light' than 'Music'.The song titles also seem to suggest that this might be a heavy, emotionally strong affair.Another song "Nothing Fails" features a choir and lyrics along the lines of "I'm not religious, but you make me wanna pray".I think we're in for a real treat!

What's the point of selling the single and only delivering it on March 24? That's the day it hits radio. So, it's not like people are going to get to hear the full song before everyone else.

I agree. And the single can only be obtained IF you live in the U.S.,which many fans feel is unfair.I really miss the days when an artist would simply release a single in stores,a month or so before the album comes out.

But,I can't lie...I just ordered the single from her site smile

Also PLEASEEE tell me this is not true, I read this in the Houston Chronicle about your girl.

"After breaking out into electronica, the ever-evolving (and no singing - of course I added that) Madonna looks set to make a foray into yet another musical genre - the world of Hip-Hop" There is more to the article but I be damn if I am going to type the rest of it but it is basically saying (You know I am just laughing my ass off as I type this!!!) Madonna wants to hook up with Missy Elliot and do something in the rap world and get some street cred... I am about fall out of this chair...

First of all,Madonna is NOT suddenly jumping on the rap bandwagon. She has been incorporating hip-hop rhythms into her music for years! Remember the 1985 song "Sidewalk Talk" by Jellybean? Madonna wrote that, and the verses are rapped.Remember her little rap at the end of "Vogue" (in 1990)? Or,how about the rap song "Did You Do It?" from her 1992 'Erotica' album? Her 1994 album 'Bedtime Stories' is filled with hip-hop grooves (her pal Tupac Shakur actually rapped on one track, but it was removed from the album). Her 2000 "Music" video is basically a tribute to the Puff Daddy-inpired hip-hop scene ("ghetto fabulous" as she calls it).

My point is,don't act as if Madonna woke up one recent morning and said "Hey,I want hip-hop credibility".The truth is,she has been a hip-hop fan for years and has been experimenting with these sounds for awhile now.By the way, when Prince was using hip-hop in his music, did you consider it "ripping off" or "borrowing"? wink

The song "Hollywood" has been described as a loud,in-your-face rock song with prominent guitars. It has many techno flourishes.Warners were so impressed that they wanted this to be the first single, but Madonna chose the title track instead.

Hey, i used to be a fan of madonna's but i got tired of hearing everything she did months or years before she did them. What i mean is I know her styles and past. I didn't live in a cave in the 80's and 90's. The fact is, very lttle, if any, of her material was new at the time she would do it. It may have been in an underground infancy, but it was not "new", just the latest trend once she got a hold of it. That's where I give her credit and respect. As far as Prince is concerned...darn right I said he needed to stop stealing and copying and fronting. Prince is too talented an artist to resort to jumping on a trend. I did not like most of Diamonds & Pearls, prince, and the whole "gangsta glam" crap that he was pushing. I felt it was all an attempt to lose the 80's glam/androgynous thing but it was not sincere. Now, the smooth rap thing like sexy mf or irrestible b***h was cool and something totally Prince invented. That is one difference between P and madonna. P can take something old and reinvent it or add or evolve it or change it to something else. Madonna just, in my opinion, uses it. She doesn't add anything to that form or evolve it or anything. So, yes, i do hold Prince to the same standards. I am not like some people who think he can do no wrong. But it does seem like you think madonna can do no wrong, so watch how you point that finger smile

No,I don't think that Madonna can do no wrong.I'm glad you understood the point I was trying to make.People always (unfairly) accuse her of "ripping off trends" or whatever. What they forget is,most of those styles are HERS too! She is primarily a dance music artist,so naturally she keeps her eye on what is hot in the clubs, including hip-hop.Remember,she started her career in the New York dance clubs back when hip-hop was just starting. She's a part of that culture too,you know.I admire her for staying on top of things, and keeping her music fresh and relevent. That's how you survive in this business. And since EVERY artist is influenced by what came before them (as well as what's going on at any particular moment),I think it's unfair to single Madonna out. There is very little music being made these days that can truly be called "unique".

Probably why i listen, mostly anyway, to my CDs and records. If I want inspiring music I needs my own collection to get me on the good foot. I can't even deal with top 40 radio and sadly, r&b radio has begun to follow the same trend as top 40. I respect your opinions DavidEye, but I just can't agree to calling madonna an artist. She is a brilliant performer (and, hey, actually I suppose their is an art to that!)...wait, hold up...in the middle of my own post I stand corrected! In the realm of music I do not consider madonna an artist, but in the world of performance she is undeniable. Her whole career has been a performance and therefore I guess she is an artist...
...ok, you can go back to your regularly scheduled programming! lol
