Hold up, wait. Stop.

Are people on a Prince fan site bashing Madonna for expensive tickets? Where was the similar criticism when Prince announced his current tour, which has tickets selling at $200?

Is Madonna somehow less entitled because she's playing larger arenas and selling them out? Prince may not have been able to sell out his OC dates with that price tag but if he could, he would. And if he could play Staples Center at $200 a pop, he'd do that too.'

Good for you, Madge. Show the others how to do it. (Even if I didn't attend because I don't think she's worth it).

Firstly no one bashed Madonna for expensive tickets. Second of all give me a break Prince's shows are worth way more than $25 he intentionally made it that cheap for the 21 nights and when was the last time Madonna did anything close to that to show appreciation to her fans? When it comes to ticket price I"m with everyone on this, if you could get away with $300 tickets and get 80% of the arena filled up why not do it? (that doesn't mean I consider what I paid to see her was worth it though) BUT it was a noble thing for Prince to do and he certainly deserves props for that, don't make it look like he had no choice but to sell tickets with that price to make people come see his show. Lastly yes Prince's current tickets aren't cheap but at least he tried to make a difference by choosing smaller theaters which is what a lot of fans asked for the longest time.

You're reading the discussion wrong...We're just talking about the Pricing of Concert tickets for all Concerts. We all LOVE Madge...

When I saw Kenny G & Patti Labelle it cost me $300 online for 2 Orchestra seats. I had to pay an additional $10 for Secured Parking. I think the cheap Tickets were $75. They didnt have a Full house either.

please if prince could sell out at 300 for arena and stadium shows he'd do it
his ego prevents him from either last minute price drops or not selling out. Madonna does what the market can handle. For years prices have been going up but with the Stones struggling to sell out we might see some prices go down.

Exactly.Let's face it....most artists would charge $300 to see them,if their fans would pay that much.Prince is all about making big bucks these days, lol. We all know that he would do what Madonna is doing (playing large arenas and stadiums with high ticket prices, and still selling out the shows),if he could.

and don't forget her shows are costly to produce. 25 dancers 8 band members and a 100 support staff plus the the three teams of of people that move around her 3 complete sets, props, costumes and instruments. Payroll alone is a few million plus building everything and the cost to transport. Its not like she's using that money to swim in

I don't think you can compare Prince and Madonna's shows or ticket prices. Madonna's shows are so expensive because she has all the dancers and special effects and a complicated stage set. Prince does a totally different type of show which is more about him just playing with his band. That type of show isn't as expensive to put on.

look at the stones and u2 and your argument goes out the window. Or Fleetwood mac. The market wouldn't support the ticket prices so he doesn't.

i paid $300 for a pretty average seat on the MDNA tour in New Orleans. The same priced ticket at Stales would have been much worse.

as for what did Madonna do for fans - the golden triangle, an enclosed portion of the stage, nearest to the main stage and surrounded by a catwalk extension, was filled in each city with fans who won tickets on twitter and/or were pulled from other seats prior to the show. no tickets were sold for the section -- it was for fans and guests of the show. i fortunately won a set of tix and sold my original pair.

amazing experience to see that kind of production up close.

let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Madonna needs all the theatrics to hide her less than talent delivery. Prince even though at one time he used theatrics. Like the Broadway style LoveSexy tour. He doesn't have to. He can just stand on stage & entertain with a guitar, keyboard or just his better than ever sounding voice & dancing. Just compare both of their superbowl per4mances & see who has the real talent. Madonna has tried playing guitar on stage. But she couldn't pull that off doing a whole show. Like Prince's latest small club gigs.. She would be laughed completely off stage & booed.....

I don't know about the Stones but U2's tours are expensive! A few of those lavish shows that they've done they made no money on because of the expense.

U go Madge, amazing after 30 years she is still at the top of her game. Madonnas track record is just phenomenal. Says a lot about her durability and the quality of her work. Prince could learn from her, as for ticket prices.

My partner went to a Rolling Stones Concert in 1965 in Auckland, the tickets were 5/- which was about 70 US cents then. By the time they wenmt to Glass Spider in 1987, tickets were $29.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Your reasoning only makes sense if Madonna wasn't the one calling the shots when it comes to ticket prices. It's not like if she really wanted to she couldn't arrange the damn price to be a little lower? And let's not forget Beyonce shows have just as many dancers, instrumentalists, costume changes and technical props and they are still not as pricey as Madonna's. But again, no one bashed M for the price she's are asking for I simply pointed out why the fact Prince sold his tickets for $25 for CA shows deserve props.

Omg but this whole thing just reminded me of that interview she did in which she said "My shows are worth it and people need to stop wasting money on stupid things and come see my show." lol lol lol From my experience it wasn't worth it hell no. I paid less money for the VIP ticket for Prince's after party lol

nod There are only a few artists/bands from the 80s who are still playing stadiums and arenas, and selling out each show (U2 is one of them).

The best part of her Drowned World tour was the semi-acoustic flamenco-tinged version of La Isla Bonita so she MIGHT be able to pull off something more intimate, though there's still the question of her voice.

they are probably the most similar artists out there in some regards.

as i explain to friends that dislike one or the other. Madonna is that one night stand that just fucks you so good you think about it for days and runs out the door before you even realized she was gone and than slyly smiles at you when you pass the street while you think yeah i wanna do that again. Kylie is your the that loves you all night in a night off all out passion and romance and cooks you breakfast the next morning before showering with you and sending you on the way and sends you a text message to make sure you made home ok. they are both good but serve different purposes.

with that said kylie truely showed the depth of her artisty over the past year to go from this

to

to

to

to

to

to

really puts what Janet and Madonna do in perpesctive when it comes to vocal talent

it was just the range from over the top production to stripped down to just a five piece band and two singers to the BBC Symphony Orchastra to just her and a piano and back to over the top... the woman can do it all.
