Cool to see a topic of them, thanx Phunkdaddy and SoulAlive cool

The Memphis/New Orleans groove, along with The Meters, Bar-Kays, Ebonee Webb, Kwick, Billy Always, Dr. John, etc... Around the mid 00s there was an announcement for a CM reunion concert, posted on a Memphis-based website. This had me hyped, also while noticing online show flashes of the groups Ozone, Breakwater (unfortunately without the late Kae Williams, Jr.) in recent years. Somebody luckily filmed a few remeniscing moments:

LOVE Chocolate Milk (the BAND not the liquid! Heehee!) Classic Early 80's Funk unit! I only wish that BBR or FTG might get their hooks on their back catalog and remaster/reissue "Blue Jeans" and "Friction" on CD! smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I believe Friction is available on cd somewhere. I bought the vinyl copy a year ago

and converted to cd. When i first heard Who's Getting It Now i went crazy. The 12

inch version isn't as good as the album version because they take out the funky

album intro and the breathing Ahh! Ahh!

I just started back listening to the album this week. The first side of the album

is pure unadulterated funk. Take It Off, Who's Getting It Now, and Sweet Heat.

They recorded this album in the infamous Ardent Recording Studios with Barkays producer

Allen Jones and this album has that Chocolate Milk vibe merged with a dash of

Barkays. They continue on the second side with another funk burner the title cut

Friction followed by a ballad Keep It Comin, and the funky Don't Let Up and the

album's closing ballad Don't Make Me Wait. I wonder is Mr. VainAndy knows about

this album.

I love Blue Jeans too. My favorite line from that song is

You hot like a pistol little girl i had to whistle

I like Action Speaks Louder than Words too.

"Friction" was first reissued on cd by RCA\BMG Japan, and a second run is manufactured by Vinyl Masterpiece, Europe.

-

-

CM's "Blue Jeans" album was also reissued in Japan by RCA\BMG, and again by RCA Fs Imports (Spanish department, I think...), which repressed its precedor "Hipnotism" as well.

Some other cd reissues

And (I guess) some sort of indy or boot?... on Worldwide Records 2000

Cool to read your different take. For years I noticed that the extended single mix is a collection item on various lists.

Heh razz That's Franky J. Richard , with the red gloves and rainbow suspenders on the Friction album.

I dig the lead part which Franky sings on the posted live version of "Time Capsule".

What's interesting too, is that Cameo's management is printed on the press photo of Friction.

Found also some snapshots in the archive gallery of Ardent Studios:

-

James Alexander (Bar-Kays) with one of Ardent's executives, Maurice White and Isaac Hayes.

-

-

Robert Johnson (Ardent) with a bangin' Bar-Kays shirt from 1985.
