Timberlake: New Album, The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) Out Sep 30

May 5, 2013

Fans of Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience may only have to wait until Sept. 30 for a second full-length 20/20 album to arrive.

On Sunday, Timberlake tweeted a photo of himself in the studio with a handwritten caption on the mixing board that said, "The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) Sept. 30th."

This second J.T. album of 2013 will follow just months after his hugely successful first 20/20 Experience, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling a whopping 968K copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has remained in the top three since its March release.

Didn't even let the first album breathe smh, as a fan of him the more music the better BUT this is a little too early. I'm really starting to believe the contract rumors more and more.

He announced that another 20/20 was coming during his blitz for the first one. He even said it would be later this year.

I have a feeling that he originally wanted to release a double album, but it is not smart to release a double album in this music economy.

He can play piano very well. I think he knows that he's no virtuoso, though.

nod and I think this is a better, more effective strategy....releasing the two albums at different times in the year. Some other artists have talked about doing something like this (Maxwell,Erykah Badu, etc) but for some reason, they didn't follow through.

He's played the guitar and piano for several years. He's not afraid to master an instrument unlike 90 percent of R & B artists.

Love the new album. I think its a great strategy of two albums in one year. Giving the fans what they been asking for for years. Would love to see Prince do this.

Have R & B enthusiasts gotten so accustomed to artists reliance on sampling and autotune that the notion of someone having learned how to play an instument is greeted with shock?

I think the shock is more on the choice of word, "mastering". Sure he plays, and have played guitar for quite some time but a master of guitar he's not.

I only wish more new artist/acts put more emphasis on instrumentation and not rely so much on technology for their expression.

Okay, perhaps I should have chosen a better term than "mastered". He will never be a Santana or Prince on six strings. lol

Justin doesnt use live instruments nor does he play the instruments in his music either. Playing a couple of strings on a guitar doesnt make you a "musician"

Where is it documented that he doesn't use live instruments? I haven't heard that one before.

He does use live instruments and he does play them occasionally. He is just not a bonafied musician. He is like the average country singer. They grab a guitar just to say they play it, but really, they are just mediocre at best when it comes to playing.

What are the songs that he has recorded where he uses live instruments and plays them?

He is just not a bonafied musician. He is like the average country singer. They grab a guitar just to say they play it, but really, they are just mediocre at best when it comes to playing.

Which is why I do not consider him a musician. He doesnt play instruments all the time and on all his albums. He doesnt play them "exceptionally well" or at a master level.
