How would you rate Maxwell as a singer? Would you say he is one of the best of his generation? I have heard some people say that his voice really isn't that great anymore. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

He can carry a tune and sings live with pretty good pitch.. Its hard to say how he compares with others of his generation because i'm sure that there are loads of gospel and soul vocalist with records out in the last decade that haven't had the looks or commercial success that he's had that, would either sing rings around him or equal what he does.. ala rahsaan patterson.. Its a matter of opinion & taste i guess..?

He is the Marvin Gaye of his generation. Period.

I would have to agree with you, Novabrkr. He is as stagnate as Marvin, when it comes to material. I wish he would release his work, at a faster clip... "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Much love for Maxwell. He is up there on my list of favorites. His first CD is a classic, & I wore it out. I never get tired of Maxwell's material. Just wish there were more of it.

Maxwell is more than a decent singer. I want to enjoy more of his music. In the beginning he was going boom, boom, boom with the albums and the last one was so good. For whatever reasons, music business beauracrcy or just not feeling it, he isn't going hard with the music.

Definitly one of the best of his generation. His voice and music deserves more props.

Maxwell has a beautiful voice. He can actually sing and very well too.
I'm kind of glad he's not a huge mega-star. He would just turn into an asswipe like so many of them do. I like him a little under the radar.
We could use a new album though!!

Maxwell is a very souful Old School kinda of singer. His delivery is skillful as it is musical. I only wish that his output consisted more of the sound that made him famous ("Urban Hang," "Embrya" and "Now") and that his releases were more frequent. The falsetto is perfection. I would love to see him get with Flyte Tyme. The album Jimmy & Terry could craft for him! Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Addtionally, I can appreciate a trilogy, however there's no English "sense" in the working title (Black Summers' Night;") Summers' is plural and possessive, therefore it should be "Black Summers' Nights." That always irked me. The grammar is off. To have a second installment entitled "Summers' " beckons the listenere to ask "Summers' WHAT?" What is possessed by these summers' he's speaking/singing of? :-O Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.
