Betty Davis-Getting Kicked Off, Having Fun, plus 2

Not to long ago i read a Internet article that said that Betty's actual catalogue doesn't live up to the funk legend hype. I'm not sure if i agree with that statement but i would definitely say that she is an acquired taste. I think that if she would have toned down her sometimes wild singing and her music had been a little more..., maybe focused or mainstream(?), she could have sold a lot more records. Shes most definitely respected but she didn't sell a lot of records.

Personally i like about 70% of her catalogue.
Anyway i think that Timmy84 had posted something of hers a few months ago.

P.S.

I bet she was a hot mama in bed thumbs up!

Betty Davis is such a mystery.I wish there was some kind of documentary on her (with live footage from her 70s concerts).

I really like her stuff. Does it "Live up to the hype", I don't know that's debatable. I just figured she was worth checking out, and she is. It's not Funkadelic level great but it's worth having in the collection.

"I Will Take That Ride" is probably my favorite.

That would be really cool. She's such a character and it seems like she's led such an interesting life that a Betty Davis documentary would be a no brainier.

She was married to Miles Davis for christopher's sake !

@bobzilla, I haven't heard I Will Take That Ride. I have her first three albums, which album is that song on ?

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.
