I heard a lot about there 2 albums coming out this year but there has honestly been little to no promotion for either of them for high profile artist.

I mean i guess it's similar to a Prince Around The World In A Day or Pearl Jam VS situation where the album just drops out of nowhere.

Yeezus is coming out in 19 days and so far besides the SNL performances there hasn't been any singles released and no pre-order on Itunes.

Call me crazy but i think it's kind of interesting when artist leave a lot of mystery behind the album so i kind of dig this new way of dropping an album.

The old conventional ways are dying off. People have to find new ways to market their music. More people have been talking about Kanye's new music and the wall projections than anyone else using current typical pay for commercials methods.

Now Lady Gaga...well. I haven't heard anything, so you are right on that one. Maybe she's working on her angle?

Kanye has had some promotion, and we're also seeing him in the tabloids everyday since he knocked up his first baby momma. I'm sure his sales will be fine.

As for Gaga, her hip surgery and recovery are most likely the reasons why she's been quiet this year. She injured herself dancing on the last part of her tour. Her new album is due out this year but I'm sure it was pushed back a few months while she gets herself back together.

19 days!!! I didn't even know . I think Gaga's just waiting for the album release before she starts promotion. She did post a picture a few days ago of her with Grace Jones...... so who knows

Really, when shit hits the news like that where there are dozens of articles, it is reaching more than just the people you know.

The first week it happened, people were really talking about it. The news was talking about it. With millions of viewers, SNL would let it be known that he has new music with the performances.

I think a lot of the promotion is going back to old school PR.

Look at the Daft Punk promotion. First was the mysterious teaser commercials on Saturday Night Live. Then the teaser they did for Coachella. Finally the single then the album.

Beyonce, the queen of PR has gone noticeably teasy. A double sided leak that may or may not be on the album, followed by a Pepsi commercial with snippets of the new single. A single release date that was mentioned but never materialized. Single heard on shaky Youtube videos ONLY. Finally a leak of what MIGHT not be the final version. Not mention of an album release date. Shear brilliance!

GaGa I think learned a little from last time. "Born This Way" was rushed. She never should've come out with ANOTHER album so soon after "The Fame and "The Fame Monster", whcih were released close to each other themselves. It was a bloated affair (even though she pulled of a classic contender in "The Edge of Glory"). So I've noticed the very low-key approach she's taking with "Art Pop". She's taking her time for one. Attempted a massicve tour we all knew she'd never finish. Released teaser single "Cake Like Gaga". No release date after over a year. Really no mention other than the name of the album. I think she just recently teased snippets of songs during a Couture fashion show.

The one common theme all of these artist have learned is the art of the tease. Forget constant Twitter blogging and endless chatter about the damn thing. it's refreshing and it seems to be working.

Gaga just posted a picture of her and dallas austin in the studio. So I guess she is still working on it, I miss her And I love Kanye but i'm not really into the direction he's going in for this album. Both artists have big fanbases where they don't have to over promote like they used to.

I just read that there will be no pre-sales for his new album, Yeezus. Instead, just having people purchase the album on June 18th. He's definitely going for some different marketing tactics. Really interesting. I also just saw the album cover or disc, which is quite plain. Just a clear disc with a piece of red tape on the right side that says Yeezus. What's he up to??

Just take a look at Timberlake, he went to the movie buisness for like centuries, he was working with directors Joel & Ethan Coen for their upcoming film... and then we heard rumors about him starting working on new music again, usually that music won't be released until 1 year because we consider the fact that he's been inactive in the showbiz for 7 years.. but then after 2 weeks or so JT released an album cover + tracklist AND this 20/20 Experience thingy that dominated the news.. Everybody was surprised! JT released his shit, It went number one for 4 weeks, and there's a lot more coming in september.. while JT has been working with Timbaland in the studio for like a year but nothing was mentioned untill NOW!.. I mean that's how you market your stuff... surprising everyone but it takes always a name and a good reputation.

Anyway i think Eminem is doing the same thing, rumors are spreading that his new stuff will be released anytime during this month.. So i guess Em will sweep the charts again with whatever album he comes up with, hope that the production is FINALLY great with Dr.Dre/No.I.D producing on the album.
