I had a feeling something was up when I went onto itunes this morning to download the new Janelle Monae and saw the Kris Kross album on the front page; under "new" music. Made me sick to my stomach. I still bought the single to support my girls; Janelle and Erykah, but damn Itunes, you greedy fucks.

I remember he was struggling a few years back. He looked really lost and addicted on some drugs... which makes his death even more tragic.

Kris Kross' Chris Smith Mourns His "Best Friend" and "Brother

"Daddy Mac" is remembering the "Mac Daddy."

Chris Smith, the surviving half of '90s rap duo Kris Kross, is grieving over the loss of his bandmate, Chris Kelly, who died Wednesday of a suspected drug overdose.

"Chris Kelly was my Best Friend," said the rapper in a statement. "He was like a brother. I love him and will miss him dearly."

"Our friendship began as little boys in first grade. We grew up together. It was a blessing to achieve the success, travel the world and entertain Kris Kross fans all around the world with my best friend," he continued. "It is what we wanted to do and what brought us happiness. I will always cherish the memories of the C-Connection."

Kelly was found unresponsive at his Atlanta residence yesterday afternoon and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.

Atlanta police told E! News they're investigating his death as a possible drug overdose after reports that the hip-hopster may have taken cocaine and heroin.

Smith concluded his statement by paying tribute to their 20-year partnership, writing,

"KRIS KROSS FOREVER, the 'MAC DADDY' and 'DADDY MAC.'"

No doubt Kris Kross fans feel his pain.

Sad: Just Before Death Video Of Chris Kelly In A Drug Induced Studio Session [Video]

Hours before his death, a drugged out Chris Kelly attempted to rap ... and spit out lyrics about a room full of dead bodies ... and TMZ has the sad footage.

The video -- shot in Kelly's Atlanta home around 7:00 AM on May 1 -- is a window into the life of a drug addict. There's crap strewn all over the house ... and several seemingly drugged out people just hanging out.

One of Kelly's guests -- who also seems inebriated -- pulls out a camera and begins to record as a discombobulated Kelly struggles to rap along with music pumping through the speakers.

We're told the song is a track Kelly had been working on recently -- and includes the lyric, "We don’t stop, for nothing or nobody … look around you it's full of dead bodies."

Hours after the video was shot, someone in Kelly's home called 911 and told officials the Kris Kross rapper passed out and wouldn't wake up. He was pronounced dead around 5:00 PM.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Kelly's mother told cops Kelly had been mixing cocaine and heroin the night before he died.

He was 34.

Very sad seems like he was trying to recapture his childhood fame that he was never able to achieve again. I heard the so so def reunion is what put him back in a drug induced state again..

Kris Kross rapper Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith broke down in tears today during the funeral for his former KK partner Chris Kelly -- telling the congregation, "It's been like a struggle for me every day ... I know Chris is in heaven."

During the service, which took place at a Baptist church in Atlanta, Smith said, "He was a true friend ... I just wanna say I love you man ... and I'm gonna miss you dearly."

He added, "My life ... it ain't ever gonna be the same, but I just hope our legacy for hip-hop is never forgotten. I'm gonna do my part to make sure Chris' legacy will live on."

The funeral was filled with Chris Kelly's famous friends -- including R&B singer Keke Wyatt and the members of Xscape, all of whom performed songs.

Jermaine Dupri and rapper Da Brat were also present. Da Brat was wearing her pants backwards as a tribute to the dead rapper.

Chris Kelly's Kris Kross partner Chris Smith and music producer Jermaine Dupri, who discovered the '90s rap duo in a shopping mall when they were teens, were among the mourners gathered at the funeral for Kelly in Atlanta on Thursday afternoon.

Services, held at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, also drew rapper Da Brat and sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott, formerly of the band Xscape, The Associated Press reports.

"He just wanted to smile," said Tamika Scott of Kelly, 34, who died May 1 of an apparent drug overdose.

"That's all he wanted. He was known to be a happy person," she added.

Kris Kross soared to fame with the multi-platinum 1992 albumTotally Krossed Out, which included the No. 1 hit "Jump," among others. Earlier this year, Kelly and Smith -- who were known for wearing their clothes backwards and baggy -- performed at the 20th anniversary party for Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label.

"To the world Chris was MacDaddy but to me, he was a son I never had," Dupri said in a statement last week. "As much as you may think I taught him, he taught me. God has blessed me to be in the presence of so many naturally talented people, and Chris was one."
