Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Family Angry At TLC For “Waterfalls” Remake Snub

The family of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes is angry at the remaining members of TLC for remaking one of the group’s songs without the verses of the late rapper. In honor of their 20th anniversary in the business, TLC remade their smash hit “Waterfalls,” but replaced Left Eye with a Japanese pop star.TMZ spoke with Left Eye’s sister, Reigndrop Lopes, who expressed her feelings about TLC’s decision to remake the song with the rap snub. “I did not know about it until a fan posted it online. I mean it would have been nice if they would have given us a heads up before being surprised,” she said. J-Pop star Namie Amuro was the stand-in for Left Eye on the new version.Lopes added that their mother was also let down by the remake, saying that Left Eye should have remained on the song to honor the memory of her contribution to the group. Lopes did say she didn’t mind the remake. A VH1 biopic starring Lil Mama, KeKe Palmer and Drew Sidora is also in the works.For now, the song is only available in Japan. Audio of the track has been removed from most social media channels for copyright issues.Left Eye died in a fatal car crash in Honduras in April 2002. TLC announced last fall that they were working on new material and a studio album, the first for the group in a decade.
