Change -- Change Of Heart

I haven't heard THIS^ synth-funk classic in years!

BANGIN'! I remember seein' the, at that time, "new" Change album in the record store. When I flipped it over and saw "Produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis," I bought it INSTANTLY just knowing how bangin' it was gonna be! Love it 2 THIS DAY!

p.s. My favorite tracks are: ''Say You Love Me Again, " "Warm," "Change of Heart," "You Are My Melody" and "It Burns Me Up."

This track is quite funky, haven't heard it before. Sounds similar to "Paradise" to me.

Love the band, the album & the track. I get happy EVERY time it comes on here.

That one synth break never gets old

Has anyone else notice how Change's Change Of Heart sounds like a prequel to SOS Band's Just Be Good To Me?!? Any DJ can basically played both tracks back-to-back on the turntables.

I bet you know their debut single "A Lover's Holiday"...it was a huge hit in early 1980

also,check out their 1982 hit "The Very Best In You" and their funky 1983 hit "This Is Your Time"...you'll instantly recognize these jams.Their songs were popular on R&B radio.

I've long thought that Change would be the perfect subject for an Unsung ep, there's quite a story behind the group, and this album in particular. Once Jimmy and Terry were tapped to be the producers of this track and album, they did some initial recording in Italy, then to NY to finish the tracks and vocals. However they kept getting interrupted so often that they decided to take the group to Minneapolis. Change co-creator Jacques Fred Petrus interruped them so much that Jimmy and Terry decide to just leave the phone off the hook. In case you're wondering why Jimmy and Terry didn't return to produce the follow-up album after getting the group another top 10 R&B hit, Change member Rick Brennan said it was because Petrus didn't pay them.

Awesome track. I could always identify with those lyrics. From a strong structure standpoint I always thought the -bridge- in this song was AMAZING. Just incredible !!

I heard this TOO! Petrus was a control freak and continously interrupted the sessions. It's too bad Little Macho Productions was so shady cuz Jimmy & Terry could have done even MORE WONDERS on their follow-up, "Turn On Your Radio."

I agree..but that album had "Mutual Attraction" on it so I forgive him (Petrus) a bit The 12" of that BANGS

Mutual Attraction (album version and 12" mix) is the best song on Turn On Your Radio, while Oh What A Feeling is clearly an attempt to ride on the Change of Heart groove for one more time.

Change's keyboardist Jeff Bova toured with Jeffrey Osborne and also with Herbie Hancock's Rockit Band. Here below, Bova grooves along on Herbie's "Stars In Your Eyes", and works the synths on the far right in a red suit. Lead singer Bernard Fowler's voice and look somewhat resembles Mic Murphy of The System, imho lol.

Great stuff man Onra's releasing cool nods to the boogie. I noticed the front cover of his "Long Distance" album sometime, and the High Hopes & Getty Up samples which you and bboy87 posted here got me eventually checking Onra's work.
