I'd love to see a US tour package of all the "forgotten" British soul/pop/dance acts from the 80's; Billy, Loose Ends, Five Star, Swing Out Sister, Go West, Soul II Soul, Mica Paris, Princess, etc... Like an all day festival.

I think Billy would be hard pressed to sell out even smaller venues, but something along these lines could be fun and very well received.

Oh...and Billy just released a new album and is scheduled to play some live US dates in August...if any of yous care.

Outside of touring Japan where they are a kind of concert favorite, I've seen Swing Out Sister at a coupla Smooth Jazz- culinary type festivals in the US. Their sophisti-pop vibe makes a nice show in person. My memory is terrible I guess, because "Princess" and "Loose Ends" I'm not remembering off the top of my head, and I was a complete junkie for English imports to the US in the 1980's lurking ....

Identity

Mr. Ocean would have no difficulty selling out every sports bar and bowling alley on the west coast. I would buy a ticket for a chance to hear all the hits.

Good questiion! Hard 2 say where he's been out of the limelight for soooo long. Sadly, "Carribean Queen," in all of its corniness is the one people remember him for over such awesome Soul nuggets as "Nights (Feel Like Gettin' Down,") "Calypso Funkin', "Suddenly," "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry,") etc... He kinda when off on an Electro Funk/Pop limb and never came back. "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car," was a step above "Queen" for me. If I got wind of him making an appearance, I'd definitely wanna go see him live and would hope that he would sell out. Always loved his vocals/phrasing! smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

If you've NEVER heard of Billy Ocean you gotta be in your 20's and don't follow music from back in the day. I don't own any of Billy's work but I grew up in the 80's & 90's watching Videos and listening to the radio. So if you are a music Lover with a decent Memory you should know who he is.

So how old are You and what did you listen to growing up? Now can YOU answer those questions so we can see if it tells a story about you.

Or maybe he's just not familiar with Billy Ocean. I won't be surprised if thirtysomethings who were kids when Billy was in the airwaves didn't know who he was. They may have heard a couple of his songs but I doubt they were all in the know unless their parents had them listening to him. Nobody's that knowledgeable about every other artist that came out in the '80s and there were a lot of hitmakers that jump off the radar the same way Ocean did.

Nope..You can't sell that.....You're in your LATE 20's and you know about Motown stars from back in the day...Part of that reason COULD have something to do with you being a Music Lover....Videos & radio were the RAGE in the 80's well into the 90's...IF Shockedelicus grew up during that time loving music he will know who Billy Ocean is. Most people in their 20's probably don't know who Billy is, YOU are the exception because you Follow Black Music...

That depends...is Get Out of My Dreams Loverboy on the set list?

Loverboy would bring down the house a lot better than Get Out Of My Dreams.

music "Loverboy" is absolutely my favorte song from him. I still listen to it on a regular basis to this day, especially when I'm in the gym. Great workout song.bananadance
