Who was better at throwing shade? Nina Simone or Aretha?

I have heard some zingers from ReRe, but i think Nina let her pistol do the talking.

Aretha was a "classier" shade. Meaning she shade you but she sipped some tea while doing it (there were rare moments, like the one in which she confronted cops before she was detained in Italy back in '71 but there weren't many of those) but Nina look like she would've tore you up with a chair if you dared to cross her the wrong way. lol

Nina Simone was treated like shit by so many people in the industry.. and by friend's.

So i can see why she become vicious and didn't hold back or give a fuck in her prime cool

It was a breach of contract complaint about her. And I'm sorry, it was Italy not Paris. doh! Apparently they temporarily detained her because they thought she had made a last-minute cancellation at a show in Rome. Apparently she said she was tired and needed a rest. After searching her luggage, they let her go. There's a picture of her apparently in argument or disagreement with being detained. I don't think she acted unruly. It was more like "why you pull me over for? confused " lol

yup sad and one of her husbands said something along the lines of she was just a pill...

He only ''took her'' when needed then got off her when he didn't eek she also had people make fun of her skin, her face and she had many insecurities cause of this.

So i can see why there came a point when she didn't wanna take anymore shit from people.

I am one of the QUEEN of Soul biggest fans, but her throwing shade, I can't really say..I did read her book, Aretha From These Roots, and she does say things like: Cissy Houston saying things about her mother but Cissy and Aretha are still close; Gladys Knight saying the same thing about Aretha's mon abandoning her,but then Aretha states also that she gave Gladys and The Pips a ride in her private jet in the 60s, and says she has not recieved a thank you yet, Gladys hadn't mentioned these so I dont know but Gladys has a story in which she felt that aretha sings respect but didn;t give her any,; Natalie Cole-there's a story there, but natalie sings to Aretha in tributes, and the one people love, PATTI LABELLE, Aretha is an admire of Patti and Patti is an admire of Aretha, she even calls the woman THE QUEEN even Gladys said an interview that she really deserves the title..it was stated that when Aretha was sick back in 2010(when people thought she had cancer)It was Patti who called her and gave her flowers and Aretha told Patti whenever she gets married again, She wants Patti to sing at the wedding..So I see know shade

oh yeah the beyonce thing, maybe she did overdue it in 2008 at the Grammys, but last year, Beyonce wished her a Happy Birthday and Aretha twitted her...there was a story about her throwing shade when Beyonce sung at Inaguaration, but it wasn't true,,she was on B's side..she stated in the media, she would have done the same thing, it was too cold and cold weather messes with your voice..then she laughed...

Buit I think Nina Simone could really kick some you know what

^ Those are good points. Plus Aretha and Natalie forgave each other after the Grammy incident. So Nina wins this lol

ReRe is funny with her "Classy Shade"...Did any of you see the Exclusive interview she gave Big Mouth Wendy Williams after the surgery? Wendy mentioned relationships or something and don't quote me but she said "We all figure Aretha Franklin gets Dumb & Crazy about relationships like the rest of us"...Aretha basically told Wendy she was the Dumb & Crazy one..It was Funny....

**********************************************************************************

Nina Simone & Dakota Staton are Patti's Mentors..In one of her books Patti gave us a different take on an OLDER Nina Simone..Patti, Nina and several artists were Invited by Sting to sing at a Fundraiser show. While rehearsing Patti asked the stage/staff for a drink of something. The individual brought Patti the drink in a Styrofoam Cup. Nina told Patti she's a Great Diva & should ask for a Glass. Patti said she didnt care she just needed something to drink. Patti then said she cooked sausages in her Suite and took some to Nina's room. Patti said she was in awe of Nina, someone she Loved since she was a child. Nina told Patti to go back to her Suite and bring back MORE sausages. Patti went to Nina's Funeral and some time after that Nina's daughter gave Patti something Nina treasured and told her that Nina would want her to have it.
