No hate here lol I love that album. It's a fun,non-stop,unapologetic groovefest."She's Not Me","Heartbeat","Miles Away","Give It To Me" and "Beat Goes On" are some of the best tunes she ever recorded.I think the Pharrell tracks,in particular, are a great fit for Madonna. She should work with him again.

I'm also a Hard Candy fan. I think it's better than most of the albums in her catalog. I certainly find it a more consistent and enjoyable listen than all of her '90s albums outside of her masterpiece ROL.

the weirdest thing is that...I think MDNA is a stronger album than Hard Candy but yet,I find myself listening to Hard Candy much more nuts

my rank for 2013 then1. Erotica (will always be the best)1. Bedtime Sorites (tie - ditto - depends on the day)3. Madonna4. Like A Prayer4. Confessions on a Dancefloor6. I'm Breathless(yes, i said it)...the rest...(honorable mention to Hard Candy which i am LOVING in 5 year retrospect). I think it's funny that everyone notes the JT / Timbaland / Kanye collaborations, when her true creative muse / best collaborator from that album was Pharrell. The two together were awesome. He also worked some serious magic for Gloria Estefan - her "Miss Little havana" (although shouldn't it be called "Little Miss havana") is fantastic and slept on.

I totally agree.I would even go so far as to say that Pharrell was one of the best producers/collaborators that she ever worked with.I know she's really pleased with the tracks he came up with, especially "Give It 2 Me".On her most recent tour, she even brought out "Candy Shop".

Its decided then, Hard Candy is great. And like a Prayer will never age, just pure perfection and the Immaculate collection is still great, even sans Whos that girl.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I think CoAD is a masterpiece even though I think Future Lovers takes too long to start. It took several listens before I was able to like the songs, but I haven't really liked an album on first listen since I was a teenager.

The Videos were good too except Get Together deserved better.

That's odd....exactly the opposite for me. COAD was the M album that really did it for me from the very first play. I wanted her to get back to good dance music for years and COAD delivered in spades! Still remember when Get Together kicked in, boy did I crank that bad boy up...knew from that point COAD era was gonna be one of her very best biggrin

Sorry I can just not agree, You are comparing Justify my love and the louder version of Like a Prayer, Vogue and most of her 80s classics to a few brilliant 90s tracks and quite a bit of filler and lesser tracks. Okay the 90s Madonna is more provocative, but the 80s Madonna is pop perfection.

Plus you think they could have taken off the lamo "Don't Cry for me Argentina" and replace it with "You'll see" then it would be an album close to equalling TIC.

COADF was also the last album that Madonna aggressively promoted. In the weeks leading up to its release, she was *everywhere*,doing a ton of print interviews and live performances. And it paid off,too...selling 12 million copies worldwide.Since then,Madonna has become lazy when it comes to promotion.

"Animal" is an excellent outtake from Hard Candy, produced by Timbaland.I can't believe that she left this great track off the album confused

That's the one. I like it. 'Triggering' is great. 'Ring My Bell' is good poppy fun too. Maybe the Hard Candy era isn't all bad.

I never saw this, was it un released? The cover art reminds me a lot of a Lady Gaga derivative thing. I hope she wasn't out there to copy her. She is so much better. Was the rest of the album any good?

^^ It's a fan-made bootleg.A few years ago,a bunch of outtakes surfaced (mostly the Hard Candy stuff) and someone compiled them, creating the Animal CD.

One of the tracks,"Triggering",is an outtake from the 2005 Confessions On A Dancefloor sessions....

One of the most best songs is "Infinity".This track was produced by Timbaland.Madonna later re-worked the track with Pharrell and it became "Give It 2 Me".It's interesting to hear how each of those guys envisioned the song, using Madona's lyrics. She liked to see them compete with each other (creatively) and in the end,Pharrell won lol

I still think she should have taken Timbaland's rough demo and came up with a different song. That beat is hot.

To me, Hard Candy doesn't feel like a Madonna album. It feels like a Timbaland/Kanye/Timberlake album featuring Madonna. And a half-assed Madonna at that - she's never sounded so distant and removed from the whole process.

^ Huh. Never thought of it like that, but it makes sense. She sounds more like a "production FEATURING Madonna." I DO LOVE "Heartbeat" tho and wish it might have been the first single over "4 Minutes," which makes very little sense to me lyrically. It's mostly funky noise with a senseless message. There's not much depth to it, but it DOES make u wanna get down! smile

I think it's simply a case of....Timbaland,Pharrell and Justin are big stars in their own right. Most of Madonna's albums are produced by unknown producers,or at least, producers who aren't on her level of fame/popularity.So,when she did Hard Candy,it was sorta like "their" album too (if that makes any sense, lol).Their sound was always gonna play a big part. Most Madonna fans don't like it when she works with commercial producers.I've seen alot of negative comments from fans about Bedtime Stories, for this same reason. They see it as her "selling out",which I think is ridiculous.

In any case,I like the idea of big,hot-shot producers giving us their vision of what Madonna should sound like. She doesn't do this very often, but it's fun when she does. The Pharrell tracks,in particular, are very intriguing. You can tell that he "gets" her,and came up with tracks that seemed tailor-made for her ("She's Not Me",for example).
