I first heard about King via a post by Harlepolis, back in 2011, when their EP, "The Story" first dropped...

The Musical Trio ( Paris & Amber Strother, and Anita Bias ) returns with a new song, now available:

OS ANGELES, March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- KING, the newest artist heralded by Prince, has announced the release of their debut single to the public titled "In The Meantime," which is now available across various digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody, Rdio, and iHeartRadio. The song can be accessed via Soundcloud.
The group, who write, produce and perform all of their own original material including "Move Love" from Robert Glasper's 2013 Grammy Award winning "Black Radio" album, was discovered by Prince on the web after listening to the "The Story EP" online. Inviting them to open for him on his 2011 tour at the Forum as their introduction to the music industry, he has since become a mentor, advisor and financial backer to the girls and has enlisted Kiran Sharma as their manager. Other KING supporters include Erykah Badu, ?uestlove of the Roots, and Phonte Coleman of The Foreign Exchange, each of whom initially helped start the twitter movement that made their independently released 3 song EP "The Story" a viral success. The group members - twin sisters Paris and Amber Strother and friend Anita Bias began writing and recording together as a group in 2009 after the twins met Anita and discovered a unique yet similar style.
Paris, who produces KING's music, says, "everything happened very quickly with the EP release, from opening for Prince to beginning to write and record our full-length album. We are so excited to come out to the world with the new music we've been carefully developing. We're thrilled that Prince has provided us with a platform to do this, and are overjoyed that we were able to produce the new album the way we envisioned it."
Anita adds, "We make music that we as music fans would like to hear. We share the same tastes, and we appreciate and invest in each other's ideas. I have learned so much from working with Paris and Amber, and couldn't fathom the idea of making music with anybody else."

I thought this was about the 1980's group who put out a song called Love And Pride. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yeah, no Joke!

Well, that was his fault/choice...I don't know if you saw the videoclip where Elton John was doing an interview, and he actually pulled Lewis's "Stoned Pt.1" CD out of his pocket, and said something like, "You all need to be listening to this guy"...I mean, c'mon, you got Elton John carrying your music around with him like a wallet...and you just drift off the map anyway...lol....

I remember seeing that clip.
Elton didn't want to talk about himself at all, he just kept pumping the LT CD!

Agreed that from the limited info gathered, sounds like the boy kind of did himself in.

I saw an unsubstantiated quote yesterday about the aborted U.S. promo tour (that you were lucky to catch)...

"Re the retirement...in real terms the whole thing was over years ago, anything I did after Island Records was just to make a bit of cash, nothing more. This includes the two albums that were licenced to a small label in the US - I was persuaded to be involved in a bit of promo early on, but only because I was led to believe there'd be some quick money, there wasn't and the US company had a whole seperate agenda so I ****ed off."

Yeah...weird....

Hate to jack my own thread, but regarding the NYC ballroom gig, I remember El-Roy saying, " They're going to be a lot of people who aren't here tonight who will later claim that they were..." , but we had no idea that it was going to be the 'Last Show'...Hell, the ONLY show in the U.S. ...and I also remember you advising me to 'document' it-- man I wish I had at least used my cell phone video...disbelief

Sorry to pull you off course. Last comment on this.
Regarding documentation, I foolishly deleted the Conan O'Brien appearance from my DVR.
