Jesse Jackson PUSH Expo 70's Concerts Back in the good ol'days in the seventies, the Rev.Jesse Jackson organized and staged concerts and booths at his PUSH Expo events in Chicago. His organization PUSH Expo was his attempt to boost and promote black businesses.Did anyone here attend those events?I was a kid back then.Of course one of his events was filmed in 1972 and later released titled"Save The Children".A wonderful, delightful time capsule of a film.Maybe the post 1972 events were recorded and also filmed that's probably sitting in a vault somewhere.Jet magazine used to cover those events.Peace!

I would love to see the full 1972 show that was released, mainly for Curtis Mayfield's set. On the "Moving On Up:the Music and Message of Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions" dvd they show two songs from his set, "We the People Who Are Darker Than Blue" and "Give Me Your Love". Those two performances give me goosebumps to just think about them!

There's some footage from a street festival in Chicago's Cabrini Green area, filmed in 1978. Not sure though if this was part of the Expo.

[Edited 4/12/13 2:33am] The 1978 festival who were the groups that played there?I'd like to see more photos of the 1973 PUSH Expo event.

- I'm wondering about that too! Cool stage show. I can also hear a DJ playing GQ's "Disco Nights" and Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" in the videos.
- Those photos are so far all the available ones which I could find on Wikimedia. Maybe the person who posted them on that site might have more?
