Article: "I don't 'get' Beyonce"

SORRY SORRY SORRY a thousand times for another Beyonce topic, but even though I don't even have these feelings about her like a lot of you do, this had to be posted. I mean I like her, but I also agree with every word of it as it's a humourous piece.

http://www.vice.com/en_uk...et-beyonce

Sorry again if it's already been posted.

Pushing her into the ocean just to shut her up? Now, I'd support that 100%!!!!headbang That would be like my dream come true! What a fantastic idea for an online petition!

I never 'got' her either. I'd rather shit in my own mouth than hear the dreck she sells as music ever again.

Put a ring on it? She can put my ring around her neck and suffocate in the scent of my bowels.

Seemingly pleasant woman though.

I'm strating to think it's not Beyonce, but her fans make her bigger than she actually is. I think it's mostly an US thing, because she's not that popular in europe. Her last three singles flopped in Europe, so she's not that massive. Her last really big European hit is from 2009.

But all I hear are people writing about her attitude, her documentary bla bla bla.

Why are people in the Us so obsessed with her?

First, she really dosn't have good songs, maybe "grazy in love"is some kind of classic, but that's about it. But even on the org people can't stop talking about her.

The truth is, she really boring, it's all an act, i don't see the emotion in her material.

The only album I liked is 4, expect for that terrible "Girls run the world".

It seems like her being married to Jay Z is a big deal, but even Jay Z isn't very popluar in europe. He had like 3 hits (inclusing 1 thanks to Alicia Keys) in Europe in his entire carreer.

I really think it's an US only thing and i don't get why such a boring person gets so much attention in the US, even from the haters.

But well, there's this other guy who even gets more praise, mr Timerlake and he's even more boring. I use his last album to fall a sleep....maybe boring is the word of 2013.

I miss the 80's and 90's...

Here in the U.S., you can't even turn on the TV without her being all over some tabloid show or on some make-up commercial or Oprah or somebody fawning all over her like she's the second coming of Christ. And God forbid you happen to walk into a place where magazines are sold. On any given month, you can bet your butt she's going to be splattered all over someone's magazine cover. I think she's starting to become more like Madonna. She's becoming more well-known for what she's willing to do to stay on the front page rather than her alleged "music".

That wasn't ugly or hateful. It was hilarious. Get a grip. It's not that serious.

I personally hate comparing artists from then to now... but i would say Rihanna is more the modern Madonna over beyonce.

Since 2007 she has constantly released music, videos, fashion lines and anything imaginable lol

But unlike beyonce for some reason every fucking song she puts out becomes a hit... and she has an album out every year as well.

Just last year she had we found love, you da one, talk that talk, take care with Drake, Fly with Nicki Minaj, Birthday Cake, Where Have You Been, Diamonds. Princess Of China etc.

And the year before that when she had red hair she had like 60 singles confused

As big as bey bey is Rihanna is more annoying cause she can't seem to stay away for more than a few months razz

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

You said it was ugly and hateful, not I. I will say this, though: it's stupid. If it was satirical, it's thoroughly unconvincing.

And I went to the writer's Twitter: I was right.

There is no nice way to put this:

Most of you have NO CLUE AT ALL as to how things operate at that level of the game.

Beyoncé is the face of a multi-million dollar investment. She earns her keep as a pop star. She gets paid to sing (which she does well), dance (which she does well), be pretty (which she is) and sell products for conglomerate corporations. All of these companies use her name to sell stuff or draw attention in order to sell stuff. Its about squeezing dollars out of the public and once the machine starts, it doesn't stop. EVERYTHING....EVERYTHING is planned. Even if it looks like an "accident" it may or may not be. She really has very little to do with her (over)exposure. Pop music is big business. Anyone at the top of the pop game is going to be subject to scrutiny but worse than being subject to scrutiny, they are at the mercy of big business.

Single Ladies was the final nail in the coffin for me. I've never been enamoured with Bey's music but that song was overexposed to the point of absolute annoyance. And it irritated me the first time I heard it so you can imagine the effect it had on me everytime I heard it again. lol I wish she would apply her talents to better material because I agree with you that her voice is ok, but she doesn't stand out in the crowd due to the homogenized state of most chart pop today. It sounds like it all comes from the same factory. As much as Alicia Keys gets trashed around here a lot of her work has an elegance about it that puts it in a different league to most. Shame Bey wastes her voice on such rubbish material.

I 'get' Beyonce. What's not to get? She's one of the most visible public symbols of the collapse of western civilization, the decline of American cultural influence worldwide, the fame/money corporate obsession that is going to drive the world into ruin. Heal the world? No. Run the world? Yes!

I don't understand why every-1 hates on Beyonce. She started out young, was obviously encouraged by her parents to do what she does; she's a very talented vocalist and dancer. Her music has held up well over the years from Destiny's Child to the present day. MY only complaint with her music NOW is that it sounds so Pop-focused for the most part. It's very slick and doesn't feel like the R&B she was doing circa "B-Day," 2006. She also gives big ups to her mother (which is ALWAYS nice to hear.) She's completely driven and although her father is a cunning businessman, without having had his guidance early on, she might have struggled more to find her niche in the music biz. I don't know her personally, so I don't judge her, but I find her to be captivating, sweet, talented on many levels and has a hunger for success. What's wrong with THAT? Furthermore, everyone hates on "Girls (Run the World,") but the first time I heard it, I was and still AM in love with it. I'm happy for her and proud of her accomplishments, her marriage and her first child. She seems to be a fantastic role model for young women today. I find her attitude to be exemplary and beneficial for others who may want to follow her lead. It's awesome to have a REAL vocalist in this pool of no-talents called R&B today. MY $.02 cents on a Wednesday. Hope every-1's happy and healthy. smile

I agree on all that u said but i also gotta agree on this article though written by dissed fan. I have to say that all the references in this article are true, and we have all said them about Alicia Keysetc...so my thing is if Alicia is a fake to you for her long speeches etc...than beyonce is too, cant have it both ways. Next on that religion front PRAISE the Lord....actually there isnt one to praise, which is my point, the rants about god and this and that fucking annoy the shit out of me, if it brings you peace COOL, keep your peace to yourself, if this was a person on the corner always ranting about the invisible man in the sky you would put him in a home with a straightjacket. As for the rest, i dont blame Beyonce believe it or not, i blame the public, because the public by in large eats this shit up, so im tired of hearing people say oh Beyonce is so annoying OK true, but people keep tuning in to her, people hate Rihanna and yet, by her singles like they were crack (well they are), no one is forcing the purchase, I agree that the AIRWAVES are bought and sold, but U the public by the shit!

There are many artists who could sing though she is talented. So many artists who were around when she was in Destiny's Child could sing better or with more soul, but have fallen off, are older, or are keeping a low profile, so no, she is not the most talented ever though she is one of the better mainstream ones and a hard worker. I believe she musically peaked already and I'm tired of hearing her everywhere and people acting like she's the second coming.

Who she is is bigger than what she does. Her performances are great but her catologue is lackluster. She needs to work on the music more than anything. She doesn't seem to have any great great songs. Although 4 is probably her best effort as an overall package.
