Really, really tough, as I love both ladies, but I have to give the edge to Lauryn, only because that is a complete album, it's a whole experience. Baduizm was an introduction to an artist.

Not even close for me if it was just judging one album against the other. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill wins by many miles. Unfortunately, holding up that one album against everything Erykah Badu has done reminds me of how sad, weak, lame, whatever, it is that Lauryn Hill still hasn't released a new album.

I my defense, I ignore most of these threads, so I would have no idea there was ever one in the past. I rarely venture out of GD.

It's telling that neither lived up to the early promise. You can make more of a case for Erykah, and I love Mama's Gun, but she refuses to be consistent.

At least she's kept trying. That goes a long way with me. I'd rather have seven albums of someone growing, continually trying (and often succeeding) to create good art, than one great album reamaining forever stuck in a time capsule.

I agree and although I don't know whether Erykah Badu is an instrumentalist or not, but I consider Badu a musician to the fullest, because she understands how to establish moods, and has an ear for music. She co-produces her albums and has a genuine love for performing, jamming and is all around artistic. Of the female artists who came out of the "neo-soul movement", Badu is the most fascinating and her albums even when they don't satisfy what I wanna hear is far more valuable than anything most artists create regardless of genre and gender.

I love her sooo much. I love Lauryn as well to but Badu just has a special place in my heart.. she is so bad ass!

As far as the comparision.... I am not going to answer... I adore both albums equally and both are classics.

I believe in addition to voice, she does percussion (piano, drums), but I could be wrong.

Me'Shell N'degeOcello's Cookie or Peace Beyond Passion. But seriously, I'll say that I bump Baduizm more than The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

I think Badu had the better songs, & Lauryn had the better voice.

Nothing Even Matters is my song though.
