Black Sabbath - God Is Dead It's awesome. More awesome than it should be.
Turn off the lights and enjoy.

Was just about to start a thread about this. Shame on the org for not caring about this!
It is indeed a very good song - far better than I expected. Epic, dark, clever lyrics - everything a good Sabbath song should be.
Officially excited for the album now.

I know right. New Sabbath gets not one bite?
Great note from someone in response to people moaning it takes to long to get going. Hello .. it's Sabbath. Also .. get an attention span.
Loving this. Also officially well excited about the album. And before I heard this .. I was not.

It's alright... i dig the rift though
The album i am not sure another album is really needed cause they already have a lot of classics.. but hey it might be good so Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

"I'll take the wine, you keep the bread" is a brilliant lyric.

I like it too. Good to see them back. Ozzy and Sabbath remind me of my teen years. Loved the Dio era also.

i know there are lots of atheists/God haters on the org, but its also lots who ain't fuckin' with a song title like that, regardless of the artist

Because they are scared of what their imaginary friend will think?
To quash their fears, the song is actually asking 'is god dead?' .. and the answer according to Ozzy is 'no'.

Everyone needs to get on the last 3 minutes of this song for some serious good riffage.

It sounds like Sabbath is mining their past and coming up short. Any darkness and melancholy is gone from Ozzy's voice at this point. The riff doesn't catch and Ozzy's vocals are lightened too much by years of pop-rock. At least with the last Dio album, they sounded like they were trying to move forward.

As i type I'm listening to God is Dead. The first thing that stand out is the absence of Bill Ward. This song is lacking that heavy, thick drumming that bill does. Shame on the guy's in Sabbath for not working out whatever problems that kept Bill off the new album.
Tommy's guitar playing is as good as ever. I don't think he's ever let me down. Ozzy still sounds pretty much like Ozzy. Its amazing that after all the years of drinking and drugging his voice isn't all shot to hell(e.g, dave mustaine and james hetfield). Geezer's bass is still as thick and pronounced as ever.
I wish the production had a little more thickness and i think the song takes a little too long to get going but overall i think its a decent mix of early sabbath(70-71) and mid 1980's to 1990 sabbath and is a very good comeback song. Especially considering how long its been since they've released anything new. In summing it up. I think God is Dead is gonna be a a grower for some people but i think Sabbath did good on this song. If this song is any indication of how the album is gonna be then its gonna be good. Personally i thought the album Dehumanizer(92)was very good but this new one has the potential to be the best one since Heaven and Hell. Ronnie James Dio would be happy for the guys.

No, He ain't
good song, anyway | |

elaborate.
The reason i said Dio would be happy is because by most accounts, Dio was a good guy and didn't really hold a grudge or have a problem with Ozzy, Sabbath or anybody else(except maybe Vivian Campbell). Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.
