No matter what Ray J does, he’s always gonna be looked at as Brandy’s lil brother so it’s no surprise that she’d be just a little unhappy after hearing that he released a song titled, “I Hit It First” about his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian. What makes things even more awkward is that Brandy is currently in a movie with Kim K. Yikes!
While speaking to Karen Civil about his new record recently, Ray J revealed that his new record didn’t go over too well with his older sister:
I gotta be honest with you, Brandy’s a bit upset. I haven’t talked to her because I know what type of lecture I’m going to get. Brandy is a whole different type of person. She lives in a different kind of world. I’m way more turnt up, my lifestyle is way more on the edge. For her, a lot of things I do, she might not understand but I can say she has my back. She is a little bit concerned and worried about the journey. But in every campaign I do, at the end of it, it always comes out with a positive message. It’s a beginning of a story that we are telling, there’s a middle and there’s a finale, so everyone has to stay tuned, including her.
Although Ray J used a pixelated photo of Kim K as the cover art to his new single, he definitely beat around the bush when questioned about whether the song had anything to do with her.
Of course, it’s a record that has a lot of controversy to it. We can’t deny that. from an independent marketing strategy, we felt it was the perfect way to impact and set up all the different projects we have coming out.
It’s a song. I do songs all of the time but this is like one of my first songs where every lyric I had to explain where I was going with the record, cause I don’t want to say no names. The main mission for this campaign is to not say no names because again, even though the song is edgy, and the song is intense and some people think it’s over the top, we want to be respectable — especially in theseinterviews. I don’t really know what’s going on with the other party or with other people who may feel like they are involved in the record.

The video is coming next week. I can’t compare it to an SNL skit, I can’t compare it to a spoof but we are having fun about my life. It’s so light. Of course the video is going to have those elements because we are having fun and people know what the concept about but we are kind of taking a spoof on my life.
Whether Ray J wants to admit it or not, he’s definitely using the public’s interest in Kim Kardashian to promote his new material. It wouldn’t be surprising if he used a Kim K look-a-like for the video. Ray J is definitely his father's child...
