Madonna Is Worth A Whopping $1 Billion

Madonna

Madonna is one of the lucky
few who has entered the realm of the super rich - the Queen of Pop is now an
official member of the billion dollar club.

For years the singer has boasted a mulit-million dollar fortune, and now
she's part of an elite group of moneymakers whose bank balances top a staggering
$1 billion.

Thanks to her record breaking "MDNA" world tour (which grossed more than $305
million last year), Madonna's net worth was estimated to be around $700 million.
She also earned $75 million from show merchandise and $10 million in TV rights
and DVD sales.

Investments in her Hard Candy gym franchise and coconut health drink Vito
Coco, as well as a $10 million deal with Smirnoff vodka boosted her personal
fortune to seven figures, according to Women's Wear Daily.

In addition, Madonna's "Truth or Dare" perfume has taken in $60 million in
sales, while her Material Girl clothing and accessories line is expected to draw
another $10 million in 2013.

Who else is in the billionaire's club? Forbes magazine recently listed the
world's richest billionaires - filmmakers George Lucas and Steven Spielberg,
Microsoft boss Bill Gates, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and media icon Oprah
Winfrey.

not bad for a chick you came to New York with just $20 in her pocket. She earned it

Say what you will about her music, its' quality or lack thereof, but you can't say anything negative about her work ethic (other than maybe lipsyncing issues). She's worked hard for thirty years and apparently hasn't made any of the stupid money mistakes a lot of her contemporaries made.

Pretty much. She uses her smarts. She knows money can come and go if people make stupid decisions so she did it smart.

Maths fail, Women's Wear Daily.

"Seven figures" - so...not even hundreds of millions, but a single million? Also, a billion has ten figures.

Makes me think I ought to dream bigger in my life and what I want to do.
The little things I've let hold me back, all should fall to the side.
Masterpiece was a good song, otherwise not much into her music these days.
She is one of a kind though, and her music is not too shabby.
Much of her music is very good.
She should never act or direct another movie though.

Well, she earned it. Bitch has been hustiling from day one.

I mean last year alone was crazy. She's over 50 and she could have just hung around and sold her perfume and shit. But no. She had to cut another album, do the Superbowl and tour the fucking world, again.

And although I like about 50% of her last album (Girl Gone Wild, Gang Bang, I'm Addicted, I Fucked Up and I'm a Sinner, I totally love and are the only ones I listen to. I honestly can't say I've ever like a full Madge record. There's always a lot of filler in them) but the MDNA tour was well worth it. Expensive as hell but a fun fucking concert.

A material girl, indeed.

I agree about the acting part. The only acting she can do is in four minute increments.

BUT, I thought "W.E." was really good. And I see great things to come if she continues to direct.

I went in with LOW expectations when I went to see "W.E." and I was prepared to cringe--as I always do when I see Madonna in a movie--but since she's not in it, I soon forgot she directed it, and was completely caught up in the story. Andrea Riseborogh as Wallis Simpson was incredible. Yes, the movie was heavy-handed in some parts but which movie isn't these days, but overall the movie worked beautifully. I think had anybody else but Madonna directed this, the critics would have love it or at least would not have been as vicious in their reviews. Harvey Weinstein and Patty Smith both pretty much said the same thing. Great movie, too bad Madge directed.

I simple don't believe the numbers.

According 2 Forbes.....the ONLY person associated with music worth a billion is Andrew L. Webber.

She's definitely a hard worker.Since 2001,she has been doing one tour after another. She has settled into a comfortable pattern.....release an album, then do a world tour (which takes up the remainder of that year),relax for a year...then do it all again the next year. And her tours typically gross between $300-400 million,so it's easy to see where she makes most of her money these days.

I believe it.

Madonna schedules herself on gruelling world tours almost every year since the 1990s, and has been making in the ball park of $145 million every time, just from touring.

She certainly has no problem with merchandising or the distribution of her product. She could have sat at home and just banked on her clothing line.

As for living expenses, Madonna is known to go over her bills (eg. at the restaurant) and write her own cheques. You never hear Madonna at warwith her accountants for "money mismanagement".

People seem to see her appearance as lavish, but designers GIVE her stuff to wear so she will be seen in it.

Lastly, she has writing credit on almost every song in her prolific catalog (except, what, Evita?) which she has smartly licensed as well (even though I hate Glee).

So basically, every angle you look at it business-wise, she is winning.
