I really liked most of the "Don't Be Cruel" album especially the title track, but i hated "Every Little Step". I think it was just way too overplayed and it ended up getting on my nerves. But man it's shocking to me that it's 25 years

Non Single Highlights

That"S The Way We're Livin -

I love the live feel of this album and the instrumentation. It stops and starts in places and sounds very lively..like the stage is about to just climax with many dancers at any given moment. Then Jhonny Gill just takes away the stage with his vocals at the last 2 minutes..amazing.

I'm Coming Home

Yes this jam goes along with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis best slow jam works ever. The gentle keys and Roland 808 play on as the guys give that haunting elemental feel throughout the whole song. The best part is also the last two and a half minutes i'd say...Ralph tells his girl without her he's been so alone..as his background vocals trade in with the rest of the guys as well singing two different parts.

Save tomoooroooow

Missing you so Im coming home....

Save me tomorrow

touched

I'll Be Good 2 U -

This hot jam always gets overlooked by the rest of the uptempo songs but this shit beats hard. Those drum snares pound hard and Bobby plays his adlibs very well on the chorus. Teddy Riley did the business on this cut. i sweat and dance hard to this everytime..and it probably has more plays than the rest of the songs from me on that whole album.

I Really Love You Girl -

This also gets overlooked due to the hot slow jams on this album that are indeed better...however its not like this one does not bumb...those snares are enough to break some speakers, and that's rare for a slow jam. The lyrics are very basic and cheesy, but it has a gospel like feel in a way with the chior cheering in the beginning. I like the end portion where he goes:

Think about the girl 4 me

Shes the only 1 I need

We fit together

Like a hand in glove

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Can't remember if this version got any love back in the day but I used to rock with it.

I think it's that freakin moog bassline. I've always been a sucker for a good groove....

Yeah I remember this....this is the version they performed at the '89 Soul Train Music Awards. I know because my mom taped it and I would watch the awards show over and over and over again. lol

Wow, can't believe it's been 25 years already.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The Heartbreak Tour was their biggest one of both their careers. But I've yet to find a performance of Al B. Sure! on that tour though.

I remember going to the NE HeartBreak tour with New Edition & Bobby Brown. It was a special time in rnB at that time that can't be repeated. They we're at the top of the game back then...

Also Bobby's Don't Be Cruel tour was a site to see...He had so much energy....
