Am I the only one who takes Rick Astley seriously?

I like his stuff a lot, think he is a really good blue eyed soul singer. I know he is a joke to a lot of people, but that's how I see it.

His songs are very cheesy and he has that damn Stock Aitken Waterman production which doesn't helpp.

But he is a great singer and a lot of singers i like have sung a cheesy song or 2 so cheese factor doesn't matter to me cool

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I'm sure his voice is okay. I just have to change stations anytime his songs come on.

I take him seriously too, as I do with all Stock, Aitken and Waterman productions, which I normally like, especially when I consider the average quality of mainstream music nowadays.

Actually, making a fantastic pop song isn't that easy, and SAW were great at that. Listen to some of the Bananarama hits, for example.

They said that they wrote Never Gonna Give You Up in about the time it took to sing it. But hey! That song kicked Jacko's Bad off the # 1 so they musta been doing something right! But once you get the hang of it, even writing #1s can become routine and that's what happened. Well, at least they admitted their songs were simple and commercial

I LOVE SAW but many of their songs are very cheesy especially the songs they made for Rick. However some of his songs past his first two albums are quite serious, definetly much more than the SAW stuff. He's a great singer too, his voice reminds me a lot of mine so I'm a bit biased smile

Yes.

Did his last album not sell due to lack of record label promotion?

Never Gonna Give You Up is his signature song

Gosh, is this how people saw mj fans for years? lol
