I'ma stick with playing the single. Have no patience for 8 minute songs by this gentleman right now. Had to skim it and nah, not with it. Thank you Suit & Tie for getting my hopes up. yawn

It's up there. Check it out. I'll try to get into it later. Damn near every song off his last 2 became singles and I appreciated them then, so shrug.

First listen, not impressed. Guess it will have to grow on me.

I don't understand the need for so many 8 minute long songs.

Agreed. I was turned off by Don't Hold the Wall, but it was because of this:

I'm listening to the album, and everything's fine, but then on Don't Hold the Wall, the music gets really weird and garbled. I'm thinking "wow, they are really doing too much on this track. i don't need the music to go in three different directions at once." So I skim forward a minute -- same problem. Ugh. I skip to the next song. Sounds a little better, still weird. Then I press PAUSE, and the music keeps playing! WTF. Then I flip back to my browser. Some random Youtube video that was buffering had begun playing. lol lol lol lol lol lol I'm so crazy.

Pressed stop on that video, and it sounds better. biggrin Now I have to go back and start over at 14 minutes into the disc.

Really? I guess it will have to grow on me. I think FS/LS is wayyy better. I can see myself skipping tracks on this album, I don't with FS/LS.

It feels so much older and mature....it may be the newness of 20/20 that's getting to me, but so far I think it might be better than his last record, or verrrry close.

A few decent Timbaland productions but overall a very boring album. Timberlake's voice is so annoying confused

i've skimmed it twice and 80% of it just sounds the same. it's like you're listening

to one long track lol

the second parts of most songs are pretty interesting. same trick he already did

on 'love stoned' though.

i'll give it a good listen tonight but the first impression is a let down after "FS/LS".

Is it safe to say that this is his attempt to create a FS/LS 2?

It's certainly not a radio friendly album like FS/LS. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But not having a #1 single in the US on the album will have to be a major disappointment.

It's been seven years since former boy-band phenom Justin Timberlake's name stood atop Billboard charts. But with his new album, The 20/20 Experience dropping on March 19, Billboard is reporting that the "Suit and Tie" crooner should break the half-million mark in sales.

The projections would give Timberlake his second No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 chart and could potentially eclipse the 684,000 mark he reached with FutureSex/LoveSounds when the CD reaches retailers.

JT has been busy promoting the project for much of the new year, performing at the Grammys, hosting Saturday Night Live and making his rounds on late night talk shows. He'll be performing songs from the album on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon every evening this week and an upcoming tour with Jay-Z is also in the multitalented singer's forecast.

If the figures crunch in Timberlake's favor, The 20/20 Experience could be the first album to sell over 500,000 copies since Drake's Take Care in 2011. The last title to surpass the half-million mark was released in November 2012.

This could've been a huge opportunity for both Tim and JT to usher in a new sound. Especially for Tim, who is sorely in need of an update. The production here sounds like he did it in 2004. The plastic-sounding faux tribal beats, the faux middle eastern whining, the ficky-ficky's. Really, man?

Listen to Addictive by Truth Hurts and then listen to Don't Hold The Wall on this record. It's kind of embarrassing, especially when you realize Addictive came out 11 yrs ago!! Not old enough to be a retro tribute and too old to be current. Yikes.

I like that they give room for these songs to breathe and sort of blend into each other to create a listening "experience." I feel like albums rarely seem to do that anymore, so props for that.

However, some of these songs just don't seem good enough to warrant an extension, and in some cases, the extended part is better than the song (Strawberry Bubblegum). Sometimes less is more and sometimes less is not enough. I think it's a balancing act that is not always easy to get right.

Another pro, but also a con, is that the record was finished in about 3 weeks.

It's a pro because the whole thing sounds very cohesive, and like a complete statement (another rarity, these days).

But it's also a con because unless there's some kind of divine inspiration happening, you're not giving yourself time to develop ideas and create some well-defined statements.

Justin is a pop artist (with r&b influences) and yet there are zero pop smashes. Woops.
This record is in dire need of a true smash. Where is it? You've had 7 years! Can you imagine the fanfare and impact of his SNL performance and Fallon residency had he came with a really huge song?

Oh well. I'm sure he'll still sell a milli or 2 stateside and make a shitload from the tour, so what does he care?

Songs are unnecessarily long with all that dragging but he's got chopped single-release versions of some of them. Title track and the closing track are my favorite tunes at the moment. From 'Tunnel Vision' to 'Mirrors', all these songs remind me a lot of Raymond vs. Raymond album for some reason. Can't say I like it better than Future Sex but will give it another listen later!

I believe he didn't want to make this a pop album. I remember him being upset that Justified wasn't seen as R&B at one point.
