Phish? Guys, Phish are coming to town and apparently they are legendary for their concerts. I only recognize their names and never have heard any of their stuff and i guess there a band im intrested in seeing cause of the hype and i love live music. Tickets are only 45-60 bucks so is it worth it? Is their music anygood? and are they really that good live?

This year will mark the 21st year that I've been seeing Phish. In fact, they're probably the only band/artist that I've seen more than Prince. They are, at their best, an 8 armed machine of spacey funk. People tend to shit on the scene that surrounds Phish, but they are incredible players. I recommend picking 'Story of a Ghost', 'Farmhouse', or 'Lawn Boy' if you're curious about their studio work. Occupy Alphabet Street!

Oh, it's generally a bunch of happy people. Some Phish kids get a little too drunk, or otherwise messed up, but most everyone else there tend to be good people. Where are you planning on seeing them? Occupy Alphabet Street!

Cool! I'm flying home to Chicago for the shows! I've yet to see that Great Northerly Island venue (I moved from Chicago 13 years ago). You'll have a GREAT time. Occupy Alphabet Street!

If you have only heard about them I would suggest going on Youtube to listen to a bit before dropping $ on tickets.
They are very good musicians but they're not for everyone. They tend to be a love em or hate em type thing. I'm not a fan myself but you should judge for yourself. Certainly a lot of people get real deep into them.
The scene around their live shows seems to be a continuation of the Grateful Dead tradition of travelling freaks making their own city for a day, although the music is pretty different to my ears.
