Report: Celine Dion extends residency at Caesars Palace to 2019

Posted March 25, 2013 • 5:58 p.m.

H.C. Rowe, of AEG and executive director of The Colosseum; John Nelson, AEG vice president; Celine Dion; and John Meglen, AEG president and co-CEO, celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Saturday, March 16, 2013.

The normally reliable Celine Dion News fan website reported late this afternoon that Celine Dion’s husband and manager Rene Angelil has announced that Celine will extend her headliner run at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace to 2019.

The announcement came on the same day that The Colosseum marked its 10th anniversary; it opened with Celine’s “A New Day” on March 25, 2003. If confirmed from more than one source, it would be a tremendous birthday gift from Celine to the hotel, the theater and the producing partners.

On Feb. 14, I reported: As superstar singer Celine Dion ends her second consecutive year of sold-out performances and starts her third and final year of her current contract, I am reliably told that she’ll be extending at least two years, and maybe two more after that.

Celine returns to The Colosseum on June 4 with tickets now on sale for performances through Sept. 1 and will take the stage with her 31-piece orchestra.

“She’s definitely planning to go for years four and five,” I was told. “If all continues to go well, there will be years six and seven -- and, who knows, maybe even beyond that. She’s very happy and feels right at home on the Strip.”

I am awaiting further confirmation from Caesars Palace and AEG, the entertainment conglomerate who produce her shows at The Colosseum.

With ALL the Billions that's generated in Vegas yearly, do you think they GIVE back to the City? I know the Entertainment helps the Local Economy but there shouldnt be a Child in the state of Nevada going to to bed Hungry with all that money pouring out of Vegas...

Their should be Soup Kitchens in EVERY town across that State...Vegas might not be able to give The Citizens of the State FREE money but they can make sure nobody is Hungry.
