Eve's Finally Ready to Lip Lock

March 27, 2013

Link

Eve's fourth studio album, her first since 2002, will arrive in stores May 14. The disc is titled Lip Lock, and on Tuesday, Eve unveiled the cover art for the upcoming project.

The artwork is pretty simple, featuring a black and white close-up photo of Eve, who tilts her chin up and looks into the camera. Her eyes are lined in dark make-up, and in the bottom right corner of the cover, her name and album are spelled out in gold letters.

Lip Lock will feature appearances from Eve's longtime collaborators including Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg and Swizz Beatz. That's according to Billboard, which asked Eve about what fans should expect from her latest effort.

"I don't want people to take [Lip Lock] too seriously," she says. "I'm not trying to relive any moments of my life. I'm in a new place in my life. I'm almost a new artist. It's a fun record."

The album includes Eve's single "Make it Out This Town," featuring Gabe Saporta of pop-dance band Cobra Starship. A video for the track premieres Friday.

I'm worried it's gonna sound old before it is even released, like Invincible.

She didn't have some sort of release when "Tambourine" was a hit (2007)?

''Tamborine'' was the lead single from Lip Lock, formerly titled Here I Am. Interscope delayed the album mulitple times and left it in a state of limbo. After years of inaction, Eve is releasing it on her own label FTR Music.

(Sigh) it's called sarcasm. Graycap and I friends, and we enjoy mocking eachother's taste in music.

A well-rounded array of guest artists on a rap album. When did that become unconventional?

It tells me the artist is a rapper -- or Mariah Carey.

so stEVE is back. i'm not sure if i was really ever convinced of her skills, despite liking a few of her tracks. her rhymes were always a bit too simple for me. she was really sexy, tho.

Eve made a triumphant return to television on Friday’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Looking hot in yellow and sportinga new short hairstyle, the Philly rap diva performed her uplifting single “Make It Out This Town” with Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta and fellow Philly natives The Roots.

During the non-televised portion, she dipped into her catalogwith her 2001 hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”

Eve's songs are more like interviews about the songs.

Imagine a movie where the dialog is all about how great the movie is

John: "Can't nobody fuck with this cinematography!"

Maria: "And the writing takes all comers!"
