Is Robyn worth getting into?

Anyone? I keep hearing raves about her

Sure. I loved her first album and met her at an autograph session. She could have become big instead of Britney a year later, way better vocalist and delivery overall

I'm not too familiar with her current stuff but what I have heard from afar is great

Definitely YES, but not the first three albums. She did not find her true identity until her 2005 self-titled release. Get that one and Body Talk if you want to hear some smart, catchy electropop.

Are you confused by the three answers you've gotten so far? lol

lol

I have soft spot for that "dancing on my own" song, but I haven't heard anything else by her that has really appealed to me.

Agreed with the other poaters. She has a few decent tracks but Zilch in substance.

I'd say she is not worth getting into.

NO NO NO! TORTURE FOR YOUR EARS, seriously. I've been hearing her music since I was a child cuz her music is overplayed here in Sweden and I've seen her live. She's a good lyracist and if you like electropop go for it, but I wouldn't do it if I was you... neutral

Yes, Yes, Yes! Robyn's music is basically "Songs in the Key of Give Me Life"!

Body Talk and 2007's self titled are amazing. She found her style and voice and is amazing.

I really liked Body Talk. She used to record with Max Martin if you like that Backstreet Boys/early Britney type of pop, but she has moved on from that and now writes catchy songs of her own. I also feel the production is top notch, and her voice is much better.

Um, hell yes. Any Prince fan who can't enjoy or at least acknowledge Robyn's pop prowess is missing out big time.

Yes.

Pharrel is the second on my list. After Prince.

Would be nice if the term 'Bitch' gets dropped. It's time to stop that nonsense.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

DJ Lenka Paris has a Robyn Mix on her Soundcloud page. Free download. Check it out.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

the "bodytalk" album is about as perfect an electro pop album as you're gonna find.

really well crafted, great melodies, great hooks, great production, smart and fun dancing jig

Body Talk is one of my favorite albums by anyone ever, and I don't even like all of the songs on it.

*
The good ones are just so good that I tolerate the rest.Dancehall Queen is the shit and would be a worldwide smash if Rihanna had done it.

*
Dancing On My Own is an electro-pop classic and one of the best pop songs I've heard in recent years or maybe ever. If GaGa or Katy Perry had released it at the time it would've been huge.

*
Fembot is pure electro-pop perfection. It doesn't get any better than this one. Another classic, I say. Whoever wrote the lyrics is brilliant.

*
Hang With Me says exactly what one might want to say to his special someone if he wasn't the overly sentimental type. I've often fantasized about hearing the acoustic version at a wedding.

*
Indestructible, Time Machine, Love Kills, Call Your Girlfriend, Get Myself Together...I mean fuck. So much pop brilliance for one record.

*

Criminal Intent gets a special mention, even though it was only available on the Body Talk 2 EP, because it's nearly as brilliant as Fembot and just as danceable.

*

COME BACK, ROBYN!!! You are missed!

"criminal intent" would be my song of choice to replace that royksopp collaboration on BodyTalk.

i can never remember the name because i don't really care for it. it's the only song on the album

that i don't like.

all the other songs, i pretty much agree 100% with what you wrote above.

plus, there's something very clever about these songs in the fact that they never get boring or

too familiar. somehow they sound fresh and fantastic wether it's the 20th or the 2000th time u

listen to them.

i'm anxious for her new album but honestly, i don't see how she can top this.

i was just saying the same thing to a friend a few days ago! it's like her Thriller or Purple Rain. i wonder if she was disappointed that it wasn't a global smash or if she even expected it to be. with as much effort that appears to have gone into it, i imagine she was gunning for some hits.

*

i agree about the eternal freshness of it as well. i put it on this morning when i saw the thread and it's still damn good.

*

PS - how come you can't double-space on this site anymore? kind of annoying.
