A new box set featuring all of studio albums The Eagles released during their 1970s heyday is scheduled to hit stores on April 2. Eagles: The Studio Albums 1972-1979 is a no-frills collection that gathers the band’s first six records — 1972′s Eagles, 1973′s Desperado, 1974′s On the Border, 1975′s One of These Nights, 1976′s Hotel California and 1979′s The Long Run.

The discs are packaged in a black clamshell box, with each CD housed in paper jacket that replicates the original album art. The box set is priced at $39.99.

Meanwhile, all of the current Eagles members will travel to the U.K. next month for the British premiere of the group’s new documentary, History of the Eagles Part One. The screening will be held April 25 at the second annual Sundance London Film and Music Festival at London’s O2 complex. Like at the premiere event hosted by the U.S. edition of the festival this past January, the four Eagles — Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit — also will take part in a Q&A session at the London screening. The movie, minus the interview segment, also will be shown on April 27.

Wonder if this will be available on vinyl? i wouldn't mind nice new remastered vinyl editions of all their studio albums.

I doubt a record version would cost $30, especially if they 180 gram it.

No I wish. I meant this 6 CD boxset release is 30 bucks.

Dirt cheap price and lack of anything new/extra leads me to believe this is a quickly put together collection to take advantage of people paying attention to The History Of The Eagles documentary. They'll make more money getting people to buy this boxset than they will from selling another couple hundred thousand copies of Greatest Hits Vol 1, which covers the exact same time period.
