That's 2 months away. Has it leaked? Nile Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder in the mix... This ought to be interesting at least.

That new 15 sec clip is funkier than anything Prince has done in 15 years! Definatly my most anticipated album of 2013.

I love Daft Punk, but to say that that 15 sec clip is funkier than anything Prince has done in 15 years should come with a warning: It's most likely a sample. You do know that almost (probably) all of the songs from "Discovery" were just sampled loops.

OK, so 4 songs had samples in them. Even if that 15 second snippet is some reworked sample, I still stand by my statement. Sorry, but for me Daft Punk has taken all the wind out of Prince's sails, and any album that he may or may not release I'm not as excited about as I am for "Random Access Memories". That's the first time I can say that about an album in the same year as an impending Prince release.

I really like the guys! BUT they're kinda overhyped. the way they use the samples/ loops is sometimes nearly cheeky - 1:1 or damn near 1:1. I think the effect of daft punk music is way much effective when you don't know about the original sample!

ok, they have a very very nice taste for funky samples and the creations are very enjoyable. but creatin music & something completely new from the ground up is definitely another story!

I respect/enjoy a lot this french duo

I give them credit for sampling funk/disco classics of the '70s (good taste) and keeping the legacy alive

that said, their career after Discovery has been puzzling...

I think it was established a while ago on an old Kanye thread that orgers fall into two camps; the older camp that refuses to laud sampled material being as creative as original material, and the younger camp that insists that sampled material is just as if not more creative than creating from scratch.

Daft Punk have good taste in samples and their live show (when they actually tour) is exciting.

That being said Daft Punk sampled "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" for one of its songs, a song that wouldn't even exist in its current form had Prince not made the original track (from scratch).

Such a pointless sample that was, lol

So much for the "likely a sample". I stand by my original statement.

So I'm guilty of assuming (and I did say likely) that a group known for sampling most of their material did not sample on their latest release.

Guilty?

Sure.

Surprised?

Definitely!

As for the Prince comment? Whatever.

Prince has done EVERYTHING in his career, wrote and played it too. He's been out since 1978. And he's been funky as hell while doing it.

I do like Daft Punk though so I'll throw you this bone.

I'm just slowly becoming a jaded Prince fan razz Hanging around here to much. Do have high hopes for "Plectrum Electrum", but more excited for RAM at the moment.
