The site in the original post tells me it was Simon and Garfunkel, "Bridge over Troubled Water."
Looking at Wikipedia, looks like that's for the week of February 28th--the previous week (the 21st) was Thank You (Fallettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)."
Are these for the week ending (on date)--or is it date of publication of the issue (or is there a difference)?
I'm cool either way. Looks like my wife was born while "American Woman" was number one.
