Why did JIVE fold?

Anyone? They seemed to be doing so well in the 90s

"The path we've taken is to refresh RCA, so we're going to retire those brands," Corson told The Hollywood Reporter. "There may be a reason down the line to bring them back, but it's a clean slate here."

Corson continued, "The concept is that there is value in branding RCA and not having it confused or diluted by other labels. The artists have all been supportive. We didn't make this move without consulting our artists, and we haven't had any push back. Frankly, they're the brand. We're defined by our artists." Jive + Arista Labels Shut...TISTdirect

first thought was "who cares?"

second thought after seeing the explanation posted is.... Arista and Jive are more recognizable brands than RCA Records at this point, so why not just change the name to one of those?

Welcome cool

I've collected through the years a few Jive Zomba artists from the 80s, Billy Ocean, Whodini, and some others.

Cool, I like his unplugged version which he performed on a radio show broadcasted by Valerie Simpson and the late Nick Ashford.

That session also came out as bonus on his "It's Time" album from 1998.

If you're interested to check more of Glenn's work then you might be hip to the albums "Everybody Loves A Winner" and "Finesse".

Those 2 albums came out on RCA in 1983 and 1984, before the Jive album with "We've Only Just Begun".

Allmusic posted a review about the twofer cd reissued by the UK label Westside.
