Funny how you ignored the other stuff, but whatever. You guys do realize that playing your own music doesn't mean you're a great instrumentalist? In fact many of the great composers of prior centuries that actually changed music forever, weren't that good of musicians even though there were some who were. While Michael Jackson was not a known instrumentalist, he was an exceptional composer, arranger, songwriter, dancer, choreographer, vocalist, producer and you can't take that away, in that sense his work is more connected to an older tradition of music from the romantic era. MJ was the embodiment of his music , much like Richard Wagner transformed opera into music drama, another composer who was not a very skilled instrumentalist but yet changed music for all time. So comparing poor little Justin to the revolutionary Michael Jackson is quite childish and immature, come back to me when you actually know music history and not some damn immature obsession with Prince. You wanna talk Prince's music go ahead because I can actually do that without attacking someone else, but lets stop this silly game of trying to compare MJ to a disney child star. MJ was a veteran before he hit puberty, while Prince was still in his bed dreaming of becoming a star. The org is always so damn immature, it makes you wonder how old people are... :/

While I do think KC is a doofus, nobody is saying JT is equal or on par with MJ. If anything, the most is that JT is trying to emualte MJ..nobody says he was better at it than Michael etc. Whats wrong with seeing MJ as an influence? Isnt that a good thing regarding MJ?

Is it because JT is white?

Yes I get that, but the fact that KC constantly talks about MJ and accuses him of things is just quite immature. Exactly, he is trying to be something that is already perfected. That's like Wagner trying to be Beethoven, it doesn't work like that. There's no problem with seeing MJ as an influence because it's obvious, most artists follow his blueprint so it's not strange that they would be inspired and have similarities to his work, that's a great achievement for MJs music and his imagery.

What does his race have anything to do with it? But if you do want to get into the "race" thing, I do think that this is the case of typical exposure of a blue-eyed soul singer that gets more attention than his peers without actually having the talent to support his success. Even Justin Bieber is more connected to urban audiences and style than Justin Timberlake, that has been portrayed as this urban soul singer.

Again I would like to keep this thread about Justin Timberlake's recent number #1 status. The other insults please leave on the schoolyard. Which includes my never ending haters, bullies & stalkers...

Tell me how I insulted you? In matter of fact I don't believe you can have a conversion about music because I seriously believe you have a very narrow view on music, it's basically Prince and Janet Jackson and some Justin. It's a shame that you couldn't reply to my message, but I don't expect more from a person that only trolls around and then plays the victim. Like I said before reply back to me when you've actually read and listened to more music and not just the standard book of being a Prince stan.

I have way more musical influences than Prince & Janet. I am also a big admirer of Rick James,Teena Marie,D'angelo, Boy George & Culture Club,George Michaels,Stevie Wonder,Chaka Khan,Angela Winbush,Steve Perry & Journey,James Brown,Billy Preston,Donnie Hathaway,Phil Collins,Sting,Karen Carpenter, Rapheal Sadiq(until a certain incident happen),Jill Scott,Maxwell,R Kelly & believe it or not Michael Jackson just to name a few.

I do prefer artist that write & create their own muziq. But I make exceptions. I started going to concerts since the age of 13. I have seen almost everybody perform live. I am very knowledgeable on muziq & the behind the scenes dealings of it. To call me narrow minded about it is laughable biggrin to anybody who really knows me. I could actually be a record executive wink

I do believe white artist like Justin Timberlake,Justin Bieber,Robin Thicke & Adele is becoming the new face of black muziq..

Frank Ocean, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce seem to be the most polarizing singers on this board. But they certainly make for entertaining threads! lol

I'm glad you've been going to concerts since the age of 13, I've been going to concerts since my mothers womb and been playing instruments since the age of 6, and I'm studying music and its history. And even if you would have the same background like myself ( I know some people) you can still be narrow minded when it comes to music. Music is more than sounds, it's also about the things you don't hear, the words that are not used and the instrumentation and vocal ability that is used or not used. I guess to me, music is truly an artform and just like with paintings, there are some people who know what they are talking about and those who just look at it in awe, it doesn't diminish their knowledge but I appreciate and respects those who participate, create and know what they are talking about.

Statements like that are just crazy to me, how can artists like those you mentioned become the face of black music, when black music isnt and cannot be defined by those genres? So you mean to tell me that blue-eyed soul, country/soul (Adele) r&b/ fake hiphop somehow represents black music? I think not. Yes all those sub-genres are historically linked to black-american music, but since the 80s and on have not followed the same tradition like the ones who started it, hence they cannot be the face of new "black music". They are just marketable artists that (white) people can relate to and sellable enough to reach urban/other audiences with its corrupted version of what the music should sound like.

I'm glad you know & play muziq like myself. But EVERYBODY has a different view & opinion. You right muziq is more than sound. Muziq to me is a way of life & trancends life, healing & emotions. I will stand by everything I said. Muziq has changed & more artist are creating and singing it than ever before. White, black, latino, asian. I see no race when I hear it. Its the reason I was such a big admirer of Teena Marie.

I am a very extremely positive person. I will not be arguing back & forth about this. Unless I am called derogatory names. Which the very people that keep caling me childish on here keep doing like they're in grade school..

Have a beautiful day & remember... biggrin
