The drummer on the Simmons pads could be Steve Jordan, often active in the NYC session circuit

I wonder which other songs might have been performed on Donnie's christmas special with Kashif
The quiet storm movement with the smooth and uptempo tracks were on a roll from the mid 80s to circa late 80s with other producers and writers such as Barry Eastmond and Paul Laurence Jones III. It was cool to hear in Freddie Jackson's Unsung episode that Madonna visited the head quarters of Hush Productions (Melba Moore's huband) and that she checked how Hush handled their business format. Kashif's sound was in demand and George Benson released a great track called "Shiver" produced by Kashif
A surprise for me was that Kashif released an independent album in the mid/late 90s. "Bed You Down" from that album got some rotation on internet stations. My fave from that album is the jazzy instrumental "Brooklyn Breezes"
