What was the first New Jack Swing song?

And when would you say NJS started?

Keith Sweat "I Want Her". October of 1987. Make it Last Forever (the album) is one of, if not the first full NJS album.

Keith Sweat's first album was released months before Just Got Paid.

That designation is most commonly attributed to Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley's "I Want Her," which was released in 1987.

"I Want Her" by Keith Sweat.... but if you want to be "technical", you can call Janet's "Control" single the "first" NJS song... and I say that very lightly.

Keith Sweat's 1987 hit "I Want Her" is the answer. "Control" has MPLS written all over it. I know you said very lightly but I wouldn't even go that far with it.
