Interesting. I think she's being far more creative. 4 had A LOT of different influences going on, thus, it was her best album for me.

I liked the three songs, I Been On, Bow Down and Grown woman, which all have leaked by now just snippets. Grown woman keeps the African music influence heard already on End of Time from 4, which I loved. The other two seem to mix a gangsta rap background with carefully melodic vocals, especially I Been On, on which she sings in an opera style. Yes, I found it very creative and I'm happy she seems to be spreading her musical range towards different influences and genres. On 4, there was 80s soul on Love on Top, Fela Kuti on End of Time, I Miss You, a wonderful heartfelt rnb written by then rising star Frank Ocean (and his most interesting song for me), Party with André 3000, maybe her best collaboration (no I don't like Mister Carter), which had this 90s rnb-hip hop to it, reminiscent of TLC's CrazySexyCool, and Countdown, which had a crazy intricate vocal delivery. Prince himself praised Beyoncé's vocal abilities by the 04 Grammies. I'm sure he thought something about Countdown.

All these criticism seem to be on cursing and her supposed gangsta rap imagery. What's wrong with having a fantasized persona? The music is what intereses the most, many cases it's ALL I'm interested on. And what's wrong with cursing? Is it because she's a mother, cause she's 31 or cause she sang to the Obamas? How moralistic can you get? Cursing tends really to offend, but the burgeouis middle-class. It's just words anyway. If its used to a purpous, fine. Do you think Peaches work is abominable just because she curses all the time? How superficial can you get?
