Lakeside..Broken Up??

Was doing some reading about upcoming old-school shows & saw where some of the band are now billing themselves as "Original Lakeside", Stephen Shockley, Fred Al...f Lakeside

what the hell?

Can't seem to find much by way of online confirmation about this. Anyone know the details?

I kinda always thought (perhaps unfairly so) that it was Shockley's band.....but without Mark on vox....sorry, but I just can't think of em as Lakeside. I'm hoping this isn't true. As a full group, they put on a great show even after being on tour for the last 40 years.

I see he is promoting himself via his own website now.

Man, Charlie Wilson has all of these old cats thinking they can go solo and create Urban AC music.

All that boring ass adult contemporary shit. They all need some some damn Viagara to get their hardness back again, especially Charlie Wilson and that tired ass Ronald Isley. lol

It is true. Mark Adam Wood Jr., left "Lakeside" a couple of years ago and performs as "Lakeside with Mark Wood Jr." or sometimes just Mark Wood with a local backup band. He still sounds great and as far as I'm concerned, I also think he is the lead vocalist of Lakeside, however the other Lakeside does not slack. They dress in costumes and also put on an exciting show and contanins few original members.

Really too bad. sad

I saw their show when they were all together, and it was great! They came out in military outfits, and jammed. The singing, and the band were just awesome. What a party, they knew how to entertain.

When I read stories like this, I think about The Whispers Unsung. They said they will not be the R&B version of Menudo. They will die off one by one. At least you know who, and what you're getting with The Whispers. Some of the lineups for these old school groups are so confusing now.

There must have been some bad blood between the group for him to just split after so many years. I saw them in the late 90s and he was such a nice guy.

Yeah! See, THAT's what I was hoping maybe one of us Orgers knew about..the "inside scoop".

And this IS damned sad...whatever the reason...like Madam correctly pointed out...really a fun time, every time, these guys were.

Mark LIVES to sing. It musta been some HEAVY shit to drive him outta that band (or vice versa).

Speaking of Lakeside....I went on a vinyl dig over the weekend and I found an excellent copy of their 1978 'A Shot Of Love' album.I think this is their best album. The full-length version of "It's All The Way Live" is explosive!!

Lakeside was a high routined machine when performing continuously as backing band on most of the shows of various artist during the theme concert Solar Galaxy Of The Stars in the late 70s or early 80s. A friend of mine saw a Lakeside show featuring Mark a few years ago. They talked for a while backstage, until the moment came that Mark had to go into his focus time before going onstage. That was a special moment to observe, as I was told.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Edit: Slight correction. On the Solar Galaxy Of Stars vinyl lp, Lakeside is only performing on their own set. Sometime and somewhere online though (sorry for the missing links) it was described that the group performed as backup for other Solar artists' sets, of that theme show. Maybe there was a Solar Galaxy tour with more concerts which haven't been filmed or recorded.

Yeah..I got to talk with several band members at a show in '08. (They milled around in the audience when the openers were performing). VERY chill dudes...just super friendly & down to earth. Got to give Marvin a pound for his sick bass line on "Pull My Strings" (and others) lol

Mark takes that sangin thang SERIOUS. That's why I'd love to know what brought this schism on.

Cool story cool

The list of band beefs keeps counting and they've been going on for some years already. On one hand i'm about to shrug but nevertheless it's unfortunate that it also happened with Lakeside.
