My Chemical Romance breaks up after 12-year 'adventure' After releasing four studio albums, the alt-rock band disbands and thanks fans.
My Chemical Romance announced its official breakup Friday night in a blog post on the alt-rock band's website.
The message at mychemicalromance.com states:
"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure."
MCR, founded in 2001 by frontman Gerard Way, released four studio albums over the past dozen years, most recently 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The band continued performing through mid-2012 and revealed intentions to release tracks from sessions preceding Danger Days but did not announce plans for an album of new material. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

You still can! The band may be breaking up but the music isn't going anywhere.
I haven't heard the first album but the other three are all quite good.

I thought the band was breaking up anyways because Gerard was doing some solo stuff for a while.

Huh, I never heard about the Conventional Weapons singles until today. They sound pretty good to me, at least they are going out on a high. Hopefully these songs receive a CD release, maybe as a bonus disc with the inevitable greatest hits release.
