Great track! Love all the rhythmic changes that the guys perform, as similar hooks of slow-to-fast-groove can also can be heard on "Mellow Fellow" from that album, with sphereful keys by Gerry Etkins and a melancholy feel in parts of the track. Recently played that mellow track again after not having it heard for a while. Taped the "The Sundance Began" and "Mellow Fellow" for a jazz mix some years ago.

Cool that Jay Leno gave Kevin and Branford Marsalis some shine cool

Kevin performed one of his new songs on The Tonight Show about a week or 2 ago. Branford was on there recently too.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Here's the Feb 2013 appearance. The song is called The Messenger.

Yeah, the drummer does some great fills. The whole band is tight. Also laughed hearing the anecdotes from Kevin, about Jay sending Hendrix memorabilia and also hearing Jay imitating Kev's mom ("Kevin is doing fine... performing in Luxembourg...) lol
