How would you rate Kylie Minogue as a singer?

To me, her voice is thin and average. I don't get why she has been around so long, but that's just me. It's certainly not cause of vocal dynamics.

Her voice is below average, actually. Not a natural singer's voice at all. She's just learned to use it for the intended purpose (electronic dance pop, throwback cabaret type of stuff, seductive midtempo stuff etc.).

There are female vocalists out there that are considered far stronger vocalists than her, but they constantly resort to prerecorded vocals. Kylie's really done that only for some TV show performances (and even on the ones that almost exclusively have the artists miming, she's often done it live).

I like her voice and I think people in general have this naive idea that "good singing" means you sing with a lot of "power" (like on American Idol). I don't whack the keys of a piano as hard as I can all the time either.

She used to sing in a very different way in the beginning of her career, btw.

Her vocals are average but people like her cause she is a genuine person and has done a lot for her fans.

She also always has good productions and pretty cool music videos. I think that is probably why she has been around for so long imo.

I feel the same about Pink(Although can really sing) in which she is genuine and her fans can see that so they support her no matter what when an album or single comes out.

Prince fans don't get the same luxury lol

It's because of song choices and overall sense of style. The latter is what most of her American contemporaries don't really have.

Oh yeah, and English men are genetically determined to lust for Australian women.

A great pop voice and can hold her own for a live concert - unlike Madonna.

Wouldn't say she's a great singer, but at least she can hold a tone live and has a very recognizable voice.

I like Kylie - and have seen her several times live and she never fails to deliver a great show. She is slick and lady like - (unlike Madonna who can be such a potty-mouth) - and I admit her voice is not the best - but she is at least live and her songs are uplifting. I have never been disappointed in her shows or albums to be honest.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

She was cool in the nineties when she went indie. I loved Confide In Me and the song she did with Nick Cave was brilliant. Her Impossible Princess album is up there with the best female singer/songwriter albums of that era, on a par with Bjork and Tori Amos. Really underrated and very artistic.

Shame it didn't catch on, it didn't really leave her much choice but to sell out and start making dilluted pop music again like Spinning Around etc. Subsequently, the majority of the music she's done in the 00s has been utter dross, although Can't Get You Out Of My Head was a timeless pop classic.

She beats pretty much any other female dance-pop artist post 70's. Her vocals on Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Chocolate are just. love

As with Madonna, never underestimate the extent to which one great pop classic after another more than compensates for average vocals.

I do like her voice, anyway. It's fine for the kind of stuff that she does.
