David Bowie's wife drops strong hint that the veteran singer may tour again

David Bowie's wife drops strong hint that the veteran singer may tour again

David Bowie's wife Iman has hinted that the legendary singer could tour again off the back of his new album 'The Next Day'.

His spouse, with whom he has 12-year-old daughter Alexandria, let slip that Bowie's family won't be able to join him on the road because of their daughter's schooling in New York.

Iman told Grazia magazine:

We have a 12 year old in school, so we are stuck, we can't travel. Our schedule is around her, so I don't know. We'll have to go visit him, but we won't be on tour with him because she's in school.

Her comments are the strongest yet that the singer may hit the road. They come after Bowie's guitarist Gerry Leonard recently said that the odds of Bowie ever touring again are "50-50". He added: "A couple of times, when we played back one of the more kick-ass tunes from the new record, he'd be like, 'This would be great live!' Of course, everyone was like, 'What? Did he just say that?' But other times he'd just roll his eyes if someone brought up playing live."

This came after the singer's producer Tony Visconti ruled out live shows to promote the veteran pop superstar's new album. He told NME in January: "He’s fairly adamant he’s never gonna perform live again… One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We’re not'. He made a point of saying that all the time."

Bowie, meanwhile is on course to score his first Number One Album in 20 years this weekend with 'The Next Day'. Check back on NME.COM this Sunday (March 17) to find out if he's topped the official UK albums chart.

Iman is a celeb and legend in her own right.. Her name should be in the title-she is more than just Bowie's wife

"This would be great live" is a lot different from "how will we play this live?"

Man, I finally went to the record store and picked up the deluxe CD. I'm playing it now and so far I am very pleased with this album on first listen... Definitely hearing different old era styles... Some songs are leaping out at me more than others but I will have to give it a few spins to decipher how I feel about it more specifically... I certainly hope Bowie tours behind this album... Funny, I just started re-exploring Bowie's music catalogue about six months ago... lol

I started re-exploring myself a couple months ago. What's strange is that whenever I start getting into or re getting into an artist, either something really good or really bad happens. Sadly last year I decided to get into Donna Summer, Whitney, and The Bee Gees sad

Well, this time there was a good pay-off from re-exploring an artist--a new album! I'm on a second listen now...and I like it even better than on first listen. cool

I know you're right--I can't contain my enthusiasm for this album though... I'll try to restrain it for the album thread (if it lasts LOL). wink

Even if he isn't up to travelling, a one off gig would be great. Maybe a live pay per view broadcast in theaters, I'd pay to see that. His 2004 shows were great.

Oh Hell Yeah...that opening guitar riff just made my heart jump when I discovered that track, should probably be the opening song IF he indeed decides to tour!

The whole album is just amazing, if someone would have told me 4 months ago that we'd be rocking out to a new Bowie album and there's talks of a tour, I would've burst out laughing biggrin
