How would you rate RedMan as a rapper? To me he is more clownlike than a serious rapper. I will never get over his Cribs ep. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." |

scriptgirl, have you heard Redman's 1st 2 albums? They're not only better than 90% of what's out today, they're classics. Redman is one of the great MCs in hip-hop history. Absolutely killed it in his prime. Don't let Cribs fool you. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I haven't heard Cribs but his first 3 lp's were solid (I vaguely remember Doc's the Name). He flies somewhat under the radar in terms of mainstream popularity--I personally sometimes forget to namecheck him-- but he's definitely one of the best to ever do it.

The reason I said "don't let Cribs fool you" was exactly because he parodied the show -- and the materialism of modern-day hip-hop -- on the show itself. Hilarious. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

IMO, he's top 20 on any best rapper list.
His combination of lyrical prowess nd humor is top notch. Only Ludicris comes close in that category. |
