I really enjoyed it 1st time through, just wish it was 20 mins shorter, i think i'll keep spinning it, i'm sure it'll grow more on me. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Im not a fan of JT's music honestly I only know sexyback, but Im groovin on this disc. It's not pop radio friendly which is fine by me. Its very coesive and one song flows into the next. He seems to become an adult man in love lyrically. Thankfully the guest rapper shit is only on one song. I think its gonna have legs and be around for a while.
Its a good disc if you give it a chance. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

It's just ok on first listen. One or two bites more than it can chew, I think.
I like that he's taking chances on the record but I don't think every song warrants some slight avante garde twist. I guess it loses its value when every track takes a left turn.
Love suit and tie but I hate that awful opening of the song. I also really wanted to like the last track, like REALLY wanted to like it. But it made me anxious somehow. The repetition got the best of me.
And I think that's the problem in a nutshell. The repetition gets to me. What starts out clever just seems played out and abused by the end.
But maybe it will grow on me if I give it a chance.

I think the album is like a litmus test for what you think about the guy.
If you dig him you're gonna want to dwell in this world. It's definitely a world.
If you don't get it, he's not giving you anything to change your mind this time.
I don't get much out of him. His point of view is always pretty boring to me. There's not a lyric or vocal that i find compelling. Listening to this feels like a chore.

i listened to it again today, but whilst doing other stuff and it sounded very nice.
i guess it's an album you need to give a few spins.
however, i don't think i'll play it as much as FS/LS, judging on what i've heard so far.

I've been listening on Spotify, because I was so impressed with the "Tennesee Kids" performances on Fallon and the Grammys - the songs sounded great and flavorful, the band lead by Adam Blackstone was killin', the horns were cool.
I don't know if it's just this streaming version, but I was disappointed in how once again compressed and mastered "to the brim" the studio album is. I was hoping for a more airy, vintage "live" feel - maybe Questlove should've produced, he's done miracles in sound in the past for folks like Al Green.
I also kind of hate the fact that a ton of the songs feature his white boy falsetto - which is NOT his redeeming feature.

Wow what a boring album. If you make 8 minutes songs, you have to keep them interesting. All the songs sound the same, there is no sparkle.
I really liked the extended versions on "Furturelove", but on this album it's just a drumcomputer that keeps going. It's very simple, too simple.

Well, I guess I have nothing else to add, yous stole my words.
I've never been a JT's fan, so Im not disapointed, Im actually pleasantly surprised by some of the tracks but you nailed it with those cons ...
I'd give it 3 stars | |

I thought it was ok on first listen, gave it another spin this weekend while doing some work at home...much better the second time around.
I'll give him a bit more credit, too...it doesn't really sound like anything else out there right now.

I dig it on first listen. I was pleasantly surprised. I was a big fan of the last record, "Cry Me a River," and Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre, so I generally like Tim and JT together. I'm hoping we get a good group of outtakes and b-sides. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I have to at least give him props for this kind of concept. Be nice if he worked with a different production team than Timbaland for this one, though I doubt it.

i wonder why people still tell questlove anything. it seems like all he ever does is throw shit out there that people told him. dude can't keep a secret -at all.

Pusher Love Girl - standard r&b, cute
Suit N Tie
Dont Hold The Wall my fav track on the album, I liked Timbalands re-use of the vocal samples and tribal drums
Let The Groove Get In - I really like this song too...kinda got that Get On The Boat flavor
Spaceship Coupe - reminds me of Promise - Ciara. Still good tho
"Dress On" (?) (forgot the name) was pretty upbeat too.
The rest of the tunes didnt really stick with me but the album is nice...less radio freiendly and more experiemental in parts Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Alot of the album clips in places when the bass gets a little too much..noticeable on Dont Hold The WAll I admit too...like Kanyes last album...the mixer should really be careful about shit like that Straight Jacket Funk Affair
