March 12, 2013

History of the Eagles, the new two-part documentary about the famed band, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 30.

The package comes as a three-disc set in both formats, containing History of the Eagles Part One and Part Two, plus an extra disc boasting previously unreleased concert footage from a two-night stand the group played in March 1977 in Washington, D.C.

The DVD and Blu-ray discs will be packaged in a foldout digipak along with a photo book. A limited-edition, super deluxe History of the Eagles box set also will be released, featuring three Blu-ray discs, a bound 40-page book, 10 high-quality photo prints of the band and a specially-designed lithograph based on the movie poster. All three video packages can be pre-ordered now at EaglesBand.com.

History of the Eagles Part One runs two hours and follows the band from its formation to its 1980 breakup. It incorporates archival footage of the group, rare home movies and photos, and new interviews with all past and current members of the Eagles, as well as with Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and other musicians associated with the band.

Part Two, meanwhile, tells the story of the Eagles' post-breakup solo careers, their eventual reunion for the Hell Freezes Over tour and album, and their ongoing work as a touring and occasional recording outfit.

The concert disc, titled Eagles Live at the Capital Centre -- March 1977, was shot during the band's tour in support of Hotel California. It features performances of "Best of My Love," "Hotel California," "Lyin' Eyes," "New Kid in Town," "One of These Nights," "Rocky Mountain Way," "Take It Easy" and "Take It to the Limit

The super deluxe box set is so jammed packed with goodies that it warrants the hefty price tag. I'm ordering it.

Me 2!!! I have always liked the Eagles, but didn't really consider myself a real fan. After watching this one, it made me have a greater appreciation of them as a band and as individuals. I love how every member's perspective on the band was presented as well as their relationship with David Geffen.

I would love to own the box set, but not feeling that price. LOL!!
